three types of atheist????

Wide, medium, & narrow are merely subsets.

You forgot deep and shallow. :p
We need to create a diagram to keep track.

So, we have:
Deep, wide and tall atheists (DWTs)
Deep, wide and short atheists (DWSs)
Deep, wide and medium atheists (DWMs)
Shallow, wide and tall atheists (SWTs)
Shallow, wide and short atheists (SWSs)
Shallow, wide and medium atheists (SWMs)

I'm rocking with my SWM brethren, personally.

Alright, let's get editing.

Deep, wide and tall atheists (DWTs)
Honestly, can't say I've ever met a tall atheist who was deep. They're way too busy having sex and being popular. We can eliminate this category.

Deep, wide and short atheists (DWSs)
Probably the most numerous atheists out there. Your classic "le reddit atheist" archetype.

Deep, wide and medium atheists (DWMs)
People who are medium height are never deep. I know this because of science.

Shallow, wide and tall atheists (SWTs)
I have met at least a couple of these people. Not many. They're like rare birds, but they do exist.

Shallow, wide and short atheists (SWSs)
I think we can assume that this group is almost entirely nonexistent, as they would be totally subsumed by the DWSs, or become them over time naturally.

Shallow, wide and medium atheists (SWMs)
Your typical "I'm an atheist, but it's whatever" guy. Read Dawkins but thought he was a bit too full-on. These people exist by the truckload.

So, we are left with:
DWSs
SWTs
SWMs

Is there a difference between:
  • A person who doesn't believe in God as they have never heard of God and don't know who/what God is supposed to be (so has nothing to do with religion)
  • A person who sees no reason to believe in God and who finds arguments for God to be unconvincing (so has nothing to do with religion)
  • A person who is positively convinced that there is no God (so has nothing to do with religion)
It seems to me that all such people could reasonably be called Atheists

Yet they are entirely different things

So, does this mean there are three types of Atheists?

Or does this mean that our language is out of touch with reality?

One type of atheist, several different ways of getting there.

How about people who believe in spirits, but do not believe in God? Think afterlife is like this one - countries, different groups, but no one spirit who is all powerful - is that an athiest too?

There is a difference but the commonality is most relevant for most cases.
You can call a car a car without losing relevance in most cases, no matter if it's an Audi or a BMW.

Depends, but it is supernatural in some sense. And most atheists would reject it, but not all.

No. Only one type.

One without God's.

Hint: One

Yep, they're atheists.

The only test for whether a person is an atheist: how many gods do they believe in?

- if the answer is one or more, they're some sort of theist.
- if the answer is zero, they're an atheist.

There are also gods. Your culture is showing. ;)
And I'll tell you what, it gets absolutely exhausting spending the energy necessary having to not believe in each and every one of them.

Well, it is still an active state in your brain or you are doing ex nihilo, when you state that you are an atheist.
