I love Tim Burton's films. Edward Scissorhands is my absolute favorite.
I didn't like Corpse Bride, however. Mostly, I think, because I was expecting another Nightmare Before Christmas, and it fell woefully short.
It's always interesting how differently people see and experience things.
Corpse Bride was the catalyst of a DEEP spiritual change in my (now 16 year old) daughter, right around her fourteenth birthday... so much so that we now call her Emily. Having watched and discussed the movie a number of times, we have made stunning observations there and the work has spawned some of our most wonderful conversations. She matured and deepened almost LITERALLY overnight, as that movie moved and grabbed the deepest part of her.
Because of my daughter, I am now an all out Burton fan as well. She also loves Danny Elfman (composer), Jonny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter.
They are all highly gifted artists, who seem to have remained "real" people in spite of all their fame and success.
As you can tell from my avitar I'm also a total Nightmare Before Christmas fan.
We got to see it in 3D this past October, just me and my daughter. She dressed as Emily, and I as the Purple Witch that I REALLY AM, and we went out to the theatre. It's funny. We dress up as who we REALLY are at Halloween. That whole day is one of those days... a truly magic one... I will never forget.
My daughter has been a naturally gifted sculptor since the age of 6.
It wasn't until Tim's stop motion work that she found her hearts passion in stop motion animation.
So yes, I would say Tim Burton is actually an important part of our lives.
Funny that!
