Two firemen are having anal sex in a smoke filled room, when the Chief walks in.

"What the heck is going on?" yells the Chief.

The guy at the back says "This man is suffering from smoke inhalation."

The Chief says "You're supposed to use mouth-to-mouth for that!"

The guy at the front says "How do you think this got started?"

You LOST! Haha! xD

True story. I hadn't been on FB for a long time until yesterday. I was just
catching up with my friends and family. I never really expressed strong opinions but showed my support by putting a translucent rainbow over my picture in show of support. There were some opinions about it which were civil right up until my longtime childhood friend expressed shock and horror before un-friending me. We've civilly disagreed on many issues but we were usually tolerant of our opposing views until he saw my support. He's always expressed is strong conservative views which I never usually argued toward. He's always known where I stood on same sex marriage up until yesterday. You would of thought I was congratulating our country for supporting and encouraging child prostitution in those disturbing child beauty pageants. I never really wondered until today as to why of all issues, the "gay agenda" was number one on his list. I had some friends express their disappointments as well but with drama far more reserved.

That must really suck.

How so? Do you really think a constitutional ammendment is a realist possibility, considering that the majority of the country supports same sec marriage?

I thought about that myself, that it probably wouldn't happen. The Federal Marriage Amendment died during the time the reverse number of states had bans or no laws for same sex marriage. With 37 of them having laws for it, it would be something like 33 or 37 (I forget) states that would have to ratify an amendment. It just doesn't compute that 33 or 37 states that have had same sex marriage would now vote against it? o_O

You are right on with this comment. I think what most people don't understand is exactly what you just explained. A constitutional amendment has absolutely no chance of going through. And, every minute that the conservatives waste on trying to reverse the decision, and every ridiculous comment they make will only hurt them in the upcoming presidential election. It always surprises me how stupid they are ... or at least how bad they are at being politicians.

You think so. Well if Sally X is against homosexuals marrying but you know she can't change it, her opinion on this would not deter you from voting against her in an upcoming election, if her other views agreed with other perspectives of yours. At the same time, if you were vehemently opposed to this marriage, her view, despite her inability to change it, might resonate very deeply with you and cause you to favor her. While I understand there are many diiferent types of people out there that can serve as counter examples to this, my point is politics is complex and if we think someone is shooting themselves in the foot at first glance, we should probably take a closer look. Certainly, politicians do make blatant mistakes, but all choices are suspect and ought to be treated with scrutiny.

No, he's right, the time when you could sway voters through gay bashing has passed. If this is the issue that swings your vote, you were already decided on Republican or 'other'. The people in the middle will see this for what it is and move away from the hard line conservative candidates.

I wasn't speaking to people being against same-sex marriage. I was speaking to the conservative presidential candidates who are calling for absurd things to fight a decision made by the highest court in the land. They are burning bridges left and right with this one.

I can't imagine pro or con rallies will make too much of a difference for those who would have sided pro, but are now happy to focus on other things. If people recognize it won't be changed, they have no skin in the game.

People who are butt-hurt however feel they can only gain. I think you are jumping to quickly to such conclusions.
