Been there done that. My sympathies for those in the east. Last year we had a good tasted of it. So much so that at one point in time we had the worst air in the world, at that time. It was nowhere near the worst air ever:

"SEATTLE — Heavy smoke from wildfires continues to reduce air quality in Seattle and Western Washington, and an air quality alert has been extended for a second time.

The poor air quality landed Seattle the top spot for the worst air quality in the world, according to IQAir’s air quality and pollution city ranking, as of 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday.

After starting the day in the top 5, Seattle fluctuated up and down the top 15 before taking the top spot in the afternoon."

And we have had bad air in the past, but now bad air happens more and more often and tends to be worse. In other words, one of the negative aspects predicted by AGW. Take it easy when outside. Mowing the lawn can wait. And a mask may help.

Our capital city, Ottawa, is experiencing very dangerous air quality, and my home, Toronto, only so-so today, is set to be much worse tomorrow. At 75, I find these times just a tad unnerving.
Immature twit! [I'm 78]

Anyhow, NYC had the world's worst rating yesterday and Detroit, which I live near, had the 5th worst in the world. I worked outside most of the morning but tomorrow I'll spend less time since our level is supposed to be worse. Fortunately, I don't have any breathing concerns, except when my wife's fingers are around my neck.

It's not too bad right now, though noticeable. Air quality is about 5, expected to go up to 7 later, however. There's a breeze, which helps.
Thanks for the update! My weather app was warning me it could go up to a 9 today and I was freaking out a little because apparently that's the highest on record. I'm hoping the breeze sticks around.

So your wife has discovered the secret to marital harmony? Very good. ;)

For me, it was always 2 bathrooms.

Just out of curiousity, the RBC Canadian Open golf tournament is being played outdoors right now in Toronto -- so not too bad, really.
