To Vote or Not To Vote...That Is the Question...

Is it better for one to vote in complete ignorance of the issues and candidates, or is it better for such a person to not cast a ballot?

Why?

Abstain as your vote would be not be based on information but looks or mannerism (or something else)

Not really,

If:

Hillary gets 2, Trump gets 1, you voted H. H has 66% of total vote.

Hillary gets 1, Trump gets 1, You don't Vote = 0. 66% of the vote is for a candidate. But, 50% of casted votes are for each. Neither candidate was helped in totals because of you, lol.
That's right: neither candidate was helped or hurt. Despite being able to help shape the outcome, you chose not to participate, implying that whatever the outcome, you didn't believe you could improve it with your vote... IOW, "any of these is fine."

If things are really that bad, that the only choices you have are to vote for dishonest incompetent candidates then I think you are obligated to run for office yourself and try to make things better. That or find someone who is honest and competent and convince them to run. If things are that bad you need to do more to help, not less. Not voting is too easy.

I love George Carlin. But he was wrong about this.
