Tom and Jerry

Liebe ist für alle da
But this is shown to kids, and imagine some southern State kids, like Texan, who watch this, you know how they will react, they will think it is "okay"......but this is what I see, stereotypes.
Yeah I see that too,and that's what you're doing to Southern/Texas people. Generalization is bad, is you're going to call it out on something don't turn around and do it yourself.
Oh... and it's a Cartoon, Get over it.

I always liked it when Tom's girlfriend made a pet out of Jerry and stopped Tom from chasing him, and Jerry is lording it over Tom, and thenTom's girlfriend kisses Jerry and gets the bloodlust.

I love Tom and Jerry. As a child. As far as the violence is concerned, what are you talking about? It's a cat and a mouse and the show is just moving pictures of a cat and a mouse.

Tom and Jerry was one of my favorites....still is actually. Cartoons are just that....Cartoons. If you think something is bad then don't do it (or watch it). If you have kids and you don't want them to watch something then don't let them watch it. As far as something being okay it is up to the parent to set kids straight...it's part of the job description.

Last thing....it is just a cartoon...get over it. If you don't like it the stop watching it.

They're gonna see that's ok for a cat to chase after a mouse. And i'm sure they find it hilarious because the mouse always gets the better of the cat.

I think this is quite typical of cartoons, and other movies of that day. When Tom and Jerry first came out there were many movies, shows, that depicted horrible moral character. Like John Wayne and how he treated the Native Americans. JW was a hero to many, but today most people see it for what it was.

Nothing new here, just a snap shot of our past, and what was acceptable.

Has anyone else noted that when Saturday morning cartoons became restricted to good morals and proper education....they really started to suck?

Fortunately, I was entertained by the violence and absurdity of Bugs Bunny and others, but I learned my ethics from my elders and certain real life lessons.

Funny how that works.

I just saw a shot snapshot of Tom & Jerry on TV, I rarely watch TV so I apologize if this is already known, deeply, by the cartoon-watching crowd....

Tom is utterly descriminated and on borderline to to teach children that descrimination and racism is "all okay".... This is horrible..

The particular scene I saw: Tom and Jerry is, for some reason, playing soccer (football for our European friends) and Jerry is pretty scre*ed because of the size issue but Tom, usually being beaten up and abused as well as treated very poorly by Jerry is doing good.

So Tom is kicking the ball towards the goal in an obvious victory, but then Jerry, as always, CHEATS and take a BRANCH and smacks the ball away in which it hits a sleeping, what I can tell, Crow and then lands in Toms hands.

So Tom stands there, completely confused what actually happened, innocent, have done nothing wrong, and then the Crow starts beating Tom up, and I couldn't stop thinking about Creationism.

This Crow (or whatever he is) did not ASK about what actually happened, he ASSUMKED Tom had fdor some reason kicked the ball on him to annoy him, completely against all logic, he did not ask Tom what happened, he did not look around to try to figure out what happened, he just started to Beat Tom up in an assumtion that Tom, a none-violent naive and friendly guy decided to hurt a LARGE AGGRESSIVS BIRD.... Yes...

Jerry on the other hand did nothing, he gloated in happiness of having Harmed Tom, violence is apparently good. I could only see Creationism in the Violent Bird and Jerry, evil to his core.

The character of Jerry is disgustying, he is a lying cheating evil little guy that wnats to harm others and only think about himself, Tom in contrast is good and always naive enough to assume the best of people and the most "evil" thing he has done is to eat Jerry, which is PART OF HIS NATURE as Jerry is food, but yet Tom usually ignore his natural instinct...

I just cant handle the hatred and violence in this sick cartoon and then see our children, especially really ignorant and religious ones with Creationist style parents,. watching this and learn more hatred and racism and discrimination, It is "all okay" to do so....

Or am I the only one?

Na....You're the only one.

The only one reading way too munch into it....

Chill, it's just a cartoon.....

And some darn funny stuff.....too......:biglaugh:
