'Bishops in the diocese of Lichfield have issued new guidance in a letter to parishioners and clergy reminding them that LGBT people 'can be called to roles of leadership and service in the local church'.

The guidance, titled 'welcoming and honouring LGBT+ people', warns that the church's reputation as being unwelcoming towards gay and transgender people is causing young people to stay away.'

That’s a significant step forward from the original job description for priests. “Wanted, men who don’t want to marry or have sex with women”. And they were shocked to find a large pedophile population in the priesthood….

Well, the FAA wants people who have ‘severe intellectual’ and ‘psychiatric’ disabilities, so it makes just as much sense for the priesthood to be looking for those who overtly display contradictory behavior toward their profession.
In fact, we could use more anti-American people in our military, and more criminals serving as judges, and pre-teens driving cars. Makes just about as much sense.

Contradicting behavior? Actually it's more a modern thing for the church to ha e a stance against it. There's records that show even the Medieval church was accepting of transfolk.

As priests? Show me.
The church accepts people from all walks of life. But not to remain in the state of sin they're in. A prostitute who wants to accept Christ and join the church is welcome if she's there to repent. But if a prostitute wanted to keep practicing prostitution and become a priest, that's different, unless it's one of those new liberal "churches".

The Church has accepted people based on their gender identity. That's more of a traditional view than rejectinf it.

Would it shock you to know that the military also hires severely disabled people for various positions? Being disabled is not contradictory to professions which also have desk jobs, liaisons, communications, outreach, et all.
Conservative media is just so incredibly myopic to think a huge industry like FAA would have no place for disabled folks.

Anyway, being 'contradictory' in this case is your opinion.

We had a homosexual priest at our C ofE Church some 10 years ago.As priests do he eventually moved on to another church. Unlike ours it was to a very wealthy London church. The fact that he had partner was no barrier.

The whole faith thing is sufficiently irrational to be able to accommodate almost anything.
