Transsexualism/Transgender - Bad Parenting?

I am currently researching transsexuality but I haven't found much on whether psychological theories -- mainly stating that transsexuality is a result of bad parenting -- is valid. Any links would be appreciated.

Nobody really knows what causes transexualism, and people who claim it's caused by "bad parenting" certainly haven't had much success in finding evidence for their views.

It's always better to find evidence and then draw conclusions, rather than seeking evidence to support an opinion.

The best place to research transgender and transsexual origins would be scientific journals relating to sex and gender. There isn't a case for bad parenting being a cause, from what I've seen (and I've done some research on the topic), and journals aren't going to publish articles saying "by the way, this is what *doesn't* cause it". So, you'll have a hard time finding good scientific sources that mention parenting in relation to it.

A bit off topic I guess, but does it really matter what causes it? I mean, other than to be able to prevent it, what use does knowing something's cause have? To make people feel better about themselves in the case that it's genetic?

I do not think you will find any actual science journals or articles that will claim it is caused by bad parenting.

Actually, if you read my statement closely, I did not say that I believe transsexuality is a result of bad parenting. In fact, from everything I've come across so far in my research, I tend to believe that it is a birth defect with physiological origins. I was simply looking for more information. Apparently, there isn't much (if any) evidence to support that transsexuality is caused by bad parenting, from what I have been able to determine.
