I think your view of nearly everything coming from atheist groups being meant with some kind of anti-religious subtlety is misguided.
Wish you were right. But everything I read on the various atheist sites I frequent say differently. Although I could just need to find some not so angry groups.

Well if you've been reading that Greta Christina blog or Pat....Condell?....I can definitely understand the perception. Christina's blog is nothing more than building strawmen out of religion to take punches at it.

I can't even stand many of the blogs or sites focused on atheism.

Some of the ones I have on my google reader are Greta's, PZ's, Friendly Atheist, Blag Hag, and a couple others that probably are not as well known. And I know exactly what you mean by Greta's blog.

This has nothing do to with what I said but ok.

So you are gonna play the gambit of the fool then? You'll blather on about separation of church and state and hypocrisy when it concerns atheists. But when it come to the religious you draw a blank stare? Why don't you take this message of separation of church and state and hypocrisy to your own backyard. The Latter-Day Saints, who have a long history of trampling all over separation of church and state.

I don't know. What did you say to her?

No wait I got it, I am the atheist therefore there must be steam shooting out my ears. I couldn't just be trying to make a point, I must be upset. I have to wonder about those websites you've been reading: Are they angry because they are angry or is because you read them as angry?

See I think maybe most atheist are not mad at religion. Maybe they are upset at people, who have their god stamped on our money, trowing a fuss over a Christmas tree. It is a bit hypocritical. Maybe they are simply mad at the way some in the religious community treat them. Maybe if the religious community would clean up the mess it has made of separation of church and state then perhaps they would not get so refuted when they complain about the actions of some atheist.

Atheist are actually somewhat of an ostracized group here in The States. I think they push back because the religious community keeps pushing them. Maybe some of these atheist are not upset because they anti-theistic but maybe the are upset because you want to paint them as anti-theistic.

When you go on a rant about something that has nothing to do with what I said, yes you look upset. Being an atheist has nothing to do with it.

I have to wonder about those websites you've been reading: Are they angry because they are angry or is because you read them as angry?
Actually, most of them have specifically said they are angry at religion.

See I think maybe most atheist are not mad at religion.
Neither do I. In fact, I think most atheists do not care about religion one way or the other. I was talking about activist atheist groups such as the FFRF. Not individuals.

Maybe they are upset at people, who have their god stamped on our money, trowing a fuss over a Christmas tree. It is a bit hypocritical.
I wouldn't care if our money had Allah stamped all over it as long as it still worked as legal tender.

Maybe they are simply mad at the way some in the religious community treat them.
And some within atheist communities treat theists in the exact same manner.

Maybe if the religious community would clean up the mess it has made of separation of church and state then perhaps they would not get so refuted when they complain about the actions of some atheist.
What?

Atheists are no more ostracized in the US by their atheism than I am with my Mormonism.

I think they push back because the religious community keeps pushing them. Maybe some of these atheist are not upset because they anti-theistic but maybe the are upset because you want to paint them as anti-theistic.
Huh, a lot of atheists I have read online are proud of their anti-theism and will gladly wear it on their sleeve. But, could we get back on the OP?

"What?"

As my mother use to say, "Get the pickles out of your ears."

"Atheists are no more ostracized in the US by their atheism than I am with my Mormonism."

No, that is incorrect.

University of Minnesota Study on American Attitudes Towards Atheists & Atheism - Research Finds that Atheists Most Despised, Most Distrusted Minority

Every single study that has ever looked at the issue has revealed massive amounts of bigotry and prejudice against atheists in America. The most recent data shows that atheists are more distrusted and despised than any other minority and that an atheist is the least likely person that Americans would vote for in a presidential election. It's not just that atheists are hated, though, but also that atheists seem to represent everything about modernity which Americans dislike or fear.
The most recent study was conducted by the University of Minnesota, which found that atheists ranked lower than "Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians and other minority groups in 'sharing their vision of American society.' Atheists are also the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry."
Mormonism does not even rank on the chart.
