Trump approval rating is Bush Disapproval rating?

The media is reporting 40% approval rating after 1 day. Coincidentally about the same approval rating of George Bush before leaving office. They say if an alcoholic stops drinking and starts again he picks up where he left off. Human nature? Does Trump have to pick up where Bush left off.

I take ratings with a grain of salt. I will be interested at the 100 day mark, 1 year, and then every year after.

It would seem to be unusual for any elected person in a two horse race to have such a low approval rating. So soon.

It will be more interesting to look a progressive graph of his ratings over a far longer period, especially if it is annoted with his relevant decisions and actions and any related results.

Shouldn't this be in the joke thread? Really? The guy's been in office less than a week and he has pretty much accomplished more than his predecessor did in a year. Besides, it doesn't matter what his numbers are, he's the Prez and you'll just have to live with it.

What do you see as having been his accomplishments this week?

To be fair, it is via executive order. I know some might disagree with this method.

That's the second person who's said this identical thing. What has Trump accomplished in a week?

Executive Order to be decline the TPP agreement.
Executive Order to suspend funding to international agencies that offer abortions.
Executive Order to alter some of the elements of the ACA.

He has ordered a stop to a few things but achieved nothing posative yet.

If and when his ratings start to affect the election prospects or pockets of fellow republicans. Then he will be in trouble.

He will find out soon enough that the USA does not exist and trade in a vacuum.
If his decisions hurt his trading partners, they will push back. Fellow americans can expect everything they buy to cost more. International trade must be two way for it to happen at all.

If he adds tarriffs to imports, so that american goods can compete at home. Other countries will be forced to do the same to American exports to balance their books.

A large percentage of American jobs that have been lost, are to modern manufacturing methods the decline of heavy industry everywhere, and automation, not to the exporting of Jobs.

I am curious of the demographic and who they surveyed.
If they polled virtually any urban area in the US they would likely get very low numbers for the Trumpenator.
If they polled rural areas, exclusively, the numbers would be far different.

Those aren't accomplishments for the middle class. Corporate probably.

This is why "ratings" are always weird to me. Also, the manner in which the polls are conducted is also sketchy. If they use landline phone numbers, that changes the ratings. If they use a list of cell numbers they purchased, that gives another number. If they use a poll online, that is another. etc etc etc.

It seems the pollsters always check the rating of new presidents at this time.
It checks what the people are thinking, not achievements.
