Trump has a degree in economics, but does he have a Nobel Prize?

23 Nobel Prize-winning economists back Harris' economic proposals

Twenty-three Nobel prize-winning economists are backing the economic policies of Vice President Kamala Harris in a letter released Wednesday, warning that former President Trump's economic policies would increase national debt and lead to higher prices.

What they're saying:
"While each of us has different views on the particulars of various economic policies, we believe that, overall, Harris' economic agenda will improve our nation's health, investment, sustainability, resilience, employment opportunities, and fairness and be vastly superior to the counterproductive economic agenda of Donald Trump," the letter said.

  • Trump's proposals, which include high tariffs on imported goods and tax cuts, will generate greater inequality among Americans, along with higher prices and a larger deficit, they wrote.
  • "Among the most important determinants of economic success are the rule of law and economic and political certainty, and Trump threatens all of these," they added.

For @Twilight Hue who is so enamoured of Trumps qualifications.

It's a pity ordinary Americans can't grasp it. Sadly, the majority of Americans still think that Trump is the better bet for the economy, yet they cannot see -- as we've discovered in this forum -- that much of the damage caused by inflation begins with Trump policies while he was on office, and that the Biden/Harris administration has actually done the hard work of bringing inflation back down -- with a soft landing (avoiding a recession)!

What is the net worth of those Nobel prize economists?
Trump is a piker in the net worth sweepstakes.
The point was understanding economics and his Penn undergraduate degree isn't even in any sort of running for Nobel Prizes, come on the desperation to find some thing he succeeds at besides bankruptcies and negative court judgements is laughable.

He may yet get elected, but he will still be a failure. Economic history will not be rewritten.

I'd say there is probably an equal number if not more of economists stating just the opposite.

With so many experts, people with tons of degrees and Nobel prizes giving opinions, shouldn't the economy be doing much better by now?

Obama has a Nobel Prize for Peace. The most warlike administration ever.

It's like Stormy Daniels had the Nobel Prize for Virginity.

Politics is the reason. Not many want to hear economists, especially if they contradict personal or political ambitions.

The worlds entire economy is a lie and messed up because it was designed by ''fools'' . You can say Trump is rich he does well etc but this has nothing to do with world economy .

One would think since 3 and 1/2 years have transpired we'd all be doing pretty good.

So much for the Harris Administration bragging that they'd be better than Trump.

Oh, look at you. Think you're worth more than Trump? How about Elon Musk? He's the richest man in the world and he supports Trump. Maybe he knows more about economics than these "glamor prize" winners.

Let's give each one of them $400 million on top of their net worth, just like what Trump got from his dad. And I doubt any have nearly half a billion in penalties for tax fraud. And another $83 million for defamation.

And let's add up the number of bankruptcies all of them have had, and I'll bet it's zero. Trump? Six. Brilliant.

So Trump has a proven record of generating more wealth than them. That's probably why they went for the "consolation prize".
