To me, this just isn't that complex.
Greta is quite a sympathetic and photogenic figure. She's too young to have any real skeletons in her closet. She's great for the purposes.

What I don't believe is that her parents were unaware of the likelihood that making her a public figure would have results like this and worse. They picked it for their autistic teenage child. Ultimately, they are responsible for the well-being of Greta, not Trump or any of his ilk. If episodes like this cause her any harm, they are directly responsible. Just as they would be if they gave her permission to play in traffic.
