Looks like somebody may have been trying to shoot Donald Trump again. But missed. (Makes me wonder the miss was deliberate, looking to move Trump towards some sort of martyrhood to give him a boost in the election.)

I cannot stand Trump. But the last thing that I want is to have him assassinated. The results of that could be even worse than him winning the election. And I cannot stand idiots with guns.
Culdn't agree with you more. Including about the idiots with guns. That's why I prefer most other developed countries to the United States.

But to be honest I think that it was just another crazy that thinks he was saving the world.
I am already hearing conflicting stories about this, stories that I will not repeat because they are unconfirmed. But let's wait until we make any assumptions.

Let's start a rumor courtesy of the NY Post.
Meanwhile, citing sources, the New York Post added that two people exchanging gunfire meant specifically for each other engaged in a shootout. The shooters were not targeting Trump, the sources said, according to the outlet.
Maybe it was just a couple of hunters hunting for ducks with their second amendment AK-47s and nothing to do with Trump?

Another idiot with an urban assault weapon and, perhaps, a desire to get into the history books. He dropped his weapon when the Secret Service started shooting and drove off in an SUV. He is now sitting tight-lipped in a jail somewhere. He reportedly also left a couple of magazine clips at the scene.
For Trump, as long as he doesn't get killed, these failed attempts are boosters for his campaign. Oh, well. It is legal for Floridians to own assault rifles and carry them around, just not to point them at presidential candidates. This time, instead of pumping his fist for the cameras, Trump is only saying that he will "never surrender", as if would-be assassins were sending him notes asking him to surrender.

Well, I'm blaming the shooters. As for their politics, the first one was apparently a kid with an extreme right wing background, although much was made of some contribution he much made to a charity. We don't know about the second guy. You are probably hoping for an Antifa background. That would look good in the campaign ads.

I would dearly like Trump to be off the scene politically, but I totally oppose assassination no matter who is the target.
- It's just wrong.
- It's essential the Trump loses the next election, by as big a margin as possible. Being prevented from running, legally or otherwise will not do.
- Criminal proceedings should then proceed at whatever pace necessary.
- Once he is gone (assuming he gives up after this one) a huge problem remains with all the MAGA people still remaining. Having him lose may help with that. Making him a martyr will only make it worse.
