Apparently Israel, Assad, Turkey and the US want to build a pipeline through Syria, and Turkey to sell Gas to Europe. Iran, and Russia do not want this. I do not know any more than before.

I guess our Prime Minister was clear when he visited Trump in July:
"Attack Assad and we're out of NATO. And Italy becomes Russia's in 5 seconds"

The "pipeline" argument has been wheeled out for practically every conflict the US has been involved in since Kosovo.
It's just some half-baked conspiracy theory that never actually turns out to be true.
