Trump picked 39 year old Ohio sen J. D. Vance as his VP

J.D. Vance for VP running mate doesn't guarantee my vote for Trump & might be a deal breaker for me. I'm going to wait and see where they stand on the issues. I might be going back to voting for a 3rd/independent party candidate for POTUS.

In his speech, Vance also took aim at the Democratic Party, saying that it had “become controlled by people who don’t have children.” He also claimed that politicians running the country do not have a “personal indirect stake” in improving it because they do not have children.
“And why is this just a normal fact of American life, that the leaders of our country should be people who don’t have a personal indirect stake in it via their own offspring, via their own children and grandchildren,” Vance asked, noting that he was not referring to people who are unable to have children.
He noted that potential future presidential candidates in the Democratic Party, including Vice President Kamala Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), all do not have children.
Harris has two step-children, Cole and Ella, who are from her husband Doug Emhoff’s previous marriage.
Vance said that parents who go to the polls should have more power than adults who do not have children.
When you go to the polls in this country as a parent, you should have more power, you should have more of an ability to speak your voice in our Democratic republic, than people who don’t have kids,” he said. “Let’s face the consequences and the reality; if you don’t have as much of an investment in the future of this country, maybe you shouldn’t get nearly the same voice.”

It sounds like him trying to justify his forced birth position.

I missed this edit in your post.
What misinformation would that be?
he(and his book) used to be loved by liberals until Biden got elected and then he started going on about woke capitalism, the border crisis, china, big tech, etc..
You tell me, is this true or is it misinformation? If you don't know, I am just suggesting you look into it a bit more.

And it is just a suggestion. I can't stop you from spreading misinformation on this or any other topic.

When did this happen? Did this coincide with Biden's election? Or did it coincide with a different event and a different time?

The second link where he is loved by liberals is dated Aug 5, 2016

Quote below is from the first link.. Dated June 12, 2021(five years later)

"For months the blue-check Twitterati could not get enough of him.

Now, fast-forward five years and they want nothing to do with him.

It started after Joe Biden was elected in November and Vance began offering his candid thoughts on social media about what he calls “woke capitalism” and “the border crisis” as well as Big Tech’s collision with the First Amendment, economic nationalism and China’s role in the pandemic.

Suddenly, nearly everything he said was construed as some form of racism by blue-check elites, and anyone taking a sympathetic look at the white working class was considered taboo. When the film version of “Hillbilly Elegy” came out on Netflix in November, critics slammed it."

From The Hill:
When voters in his home state approved a constitutional amendment protecting abortion and other forms of reproductive health care, Vance called it a “gut punch.” In a post on X in November 2023, Vance said state anti-abortion laws need exceptions for them to have a chance at passing.
As with Trump's SCOTUS justices, we once again see
wolves don sheep clothing when cadging for votes.
After the election, then their true values rear their
ugly heads.

I think he said that in response to this.

"125 Democrats and 1 Republican Vote to Lower Voting Age to 16"

The part that isn't included in your link is this...

"The Democrats are talking about giving the vote to 16-year-olds," Vance said. "Let's do this instead. Let's give votes to all children in this country, but let's give control over those votes to the parents of the children."

I would say stick with 18 as 16 is still too immature to make such an important decision as voting a president in.

The system works good so far and you know the saying don't fix what's not broken.

I never heard of him. What do you know about him?

Excerpted from the NYT: J.D. Vance on the Issues, From Abortion to the Middle East
  • [Abortion] Mr. Vance opposes abortion rights, even in the case of incest or rape, but says there should be exceptions for cases when the mother’s life is in danger. He praised the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
  • [Ukraine] Mr. Vance has been one of the leading opponents of U.S. support for Ukraine in the war with Russia. “I think it’s ridiculous that we’re focused on this border in Ukraine,” he said in a podcast interview with Stephen K. Bannon, the former Trump adviser and longtime ally. “I’ve got to be honest with you, I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other.”
  • [Immigration] Immigration was the subject of Mr. Vance’s first advertisements in his 2022 campaign for the Senate in Ohio. While most ads are written by consultants, Mr. Vance said he wrote this one himself: “Joe Biden’s open border is killing Ohioans,” he says, looking straight into the camera. “With more illegal drugs and more Democrat voters pouring into this country.”
  • [January 6th] “I think the election was stolen from Trump,” Mr. Vance said during the Republican primary for his Ohio seat, putting him firmly in the camp of election deniers. Mr. Vance dismissed the idea that Mr. Trump played a role in instigating the demonstrators who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. And he said that if he had been Mr. Trump’s vice president then, he would have bowed to Mr. Trump’s demand and rejected electoral votes from several swing states won by Mr. Biden in 2020.
  • [Tariffs] Mr. Vance has called for “broad-based tariffs, especially on goods coming in from China,” because they pose an unfair threat to American jobs and commerce, he said. “We need to protect American industries from all of the competition,” he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
  • [Climate] Mr. Vance has said climate change is not a threat and has said he is skeptical of the scientific consensus that warming of the earth’s atmosphere is caused by human activity. “It’s been changing, as others pointed out, it’s been changing for millennia,” he told the American Leadership Forum. Mr. Vance is a strong supporter of the oil and gas industry — which is dominant in his home state — and has voiced opposition to wind and solar energy, and electric vehicles.
  • [Middle East] Mr. Vance has been a steadfast supporter of Israel throughout the country’s war in Gaza, defending its wartime policies in the face of growing criticism over the civilian death toll.
He is attractive, malleable, and effective, and vitriolic. There are reports that Trump chose him, in part, because he sees him as someone who could carry on the MAGA movement.

Axios adds:

Usha Vance will likely see her profile rise dramatically now that former President Trump has chosen her husband, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), as his 2024 running mate.
Why it matters: Usha Vance — a highly accomplished attorney and daughter of Indian immigrants — and her husband bring youth and diversity to the Trump ticket.

MAGA has become more dangerous.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Here's what Vance said about Trump being Hitler, in a text to his former roommate Joah McLaurin, who later shared the screenshots on FB.

"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical arse hole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler. How’s that for discouraging?”

He was actually a bit more blunt but I had to clean it up for the site censors. Anyway, enough about all that. I have been watching Vance now for several years. I liked his book, which didn't disclose his political affiliation, And he's from Middletown, OH, which actually isn't in the middle of the state at all, and in fact I pass it going to visit my daughter, who lives near Cincinnati.

He has backwards double standard foreign policy positions on "Ukraine" and the "Middle East" - opposing one and supporting the other. People ought to at least be consistent in their foreign policy positions - either support or oppose foreign support. However, since the US is part of NATO, that would be a reason to not be opposed to supporting Ukraine for the sake of NATO interests. He is being consistent, though, in being supportive of the aggressors & opposed to the victims. He sucks.

Vance is everything I'd expect of a Republican politician.
The only positive thing is tariffs on Chinese goods.
But that runs against his leader's stance of reducing
inflation.
It's a perfect storm of authoritarianism, dishonesty,
danger, & incompetence. He's even worse than
Biden.

He used to be anti-Trump, going so far as to say only idiots voted for him and he was Hitler.
Now he is ready to join Hitler, I mean Trump. He can now prosecute all people involved with abortion as murderers. And best of all he will correct all of the scientists who have made the horrible error of worthless claim of climate change. Now he can help Trump to Drill Drill Drill. I wonder if Trump is trying to heat up the earth to be similar to hell?
