Trump promises.

an anarchist

Your local loco.
Trump promised that he would get rid of tax on overtime. He said it himself!

What else did he promise? I want to have a thread to reference his campaign promises. Think he’ll follow through with his promises?

- He will end the war in Ukraine in one day.

- No taxes on overtime or tips.

So far sounds good. What else did that feller promise us?

Personally, I wouldn't want to be a rich man in an impoverished society.
Ah, but such is the lot for an American. An average American lives like royalty compared to much else of the world. So, perhaps we have to get used to it and not over extend our empathy.

I believe he promised to "make America great again." Good luck with that one.

However, there might be a way. All they have to do is change the name of the country to "Great America." That way, America could become officially "great," even if in name only. Americans could go to other countries and when asked what their nationality is, they can proudly say "I'm a Great American!"

Or perhaps they are a realist?

Yad Vashem is a powerful, painful, and brilliantly designed experience. One walks through display afer display on the most depraved monuments to perceived self interest and indifference. But then one reaches an area dedicated to the righteous among nations. These are the people I value. You be you.

You haven't been to our cities lately. There are beggars prowling parking lots, storefronts, and intersections and many streets are lined with tents.
It takes two jobs to maintain a middle class lifestyle, houses and higher education are becoming unaffordable, and many are just one medical bill, car accident or rent increase away from homlessness.

It's like that here in Canada too.

Change the word from ”promise” to “ aspiration”.

That’s how the word is used by all politicians.

Harris promised things she had no capacity to
accomplish.

You're better off when the society you inhabit is better off. Personally, I wouldn't want to be a rich man in an impoverished society.
I think the bible often talked about a satisfied poor person vs. a flustered, angry rich person.. if I recall. Seems like there were some lines in there about how it's better to be poor, if you have less problems.. better to eat in peace than to eat with people that are angry, or something

IMO people who are happy with what they have are truly happy.

Many people are never happy because all they want is more, even when they have more than enough.

It is a sick assumption which I assume is based on projection, thoughtlessness, or both.
I don't know, I flipped open the bible randomly the other day to Isaiah chapter 53. I think one could read those verses in there from the standpoint of an individual who failed to stand up for himself.. It seems to imply, in a certain reading of it, that you should speak and act in self interest at times, or you will be oppressed by natural injustice. However, by the end of chapter 53, the Lord describes the opposition as a lesson, at least, I suppose, and the individual learns how to avoid such suffering in the future, and he teaches his descendants
