If Mexico looked after their own side and their own people, then there would be problem, their people wouldn't want to leave, problem solved.

What's special about that?
He had a Twitter war with a bimbo from some beauty pageant. Your PM hasn't had a Twitter war with Trump.
Maybe someday s/he'll be important enough for one, but maybe not.

Hey, we've invested 50 years of Prime Minister nose up President butt. Surely we deserve a pat on the head and a treat?

Two sources -- one American, one Mexican -- are reporting that Trump threatened to invade Mexico during a phone call with Enrique Pena Nieto, the Mexican president.

Mexico denies any such thing was said, while the White House as of now seems to be silent on the matter, neither denying nor confirming it. I expect a denial will come soon, though. It would be scandalous for the White House to admit that Trump said those things.

I myself don't believe Trump has plans to invade Mexico, but that the reports, if true, are further evidence of his irresponsible and troublesome tendency to engage in reckless, impulsive speech (or twitters, as the case may be).

What do you make of it?

Well, I bet Trump is glad he didn't threaten Canada. they might burn the White House down again.

When I first read this thread I was in bed, using my phone.

So I woke a little while afterwards and thought...

Oh thank God, it was all a dr--

no it wasn't.

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
If I were a devious monster trying to discredit all media except my own propaganda arm. . . I might purposefully leak a bunch of crazy stuff that I've said and done, some of which I can prove to be demonstrably false later.

Then, when both sides deny the leak's claims, I strike!

"The dishonest media out to get me, making up false allegations that aren't true."

"See, here's the tape. I NEVER said that! You can TRUST me, not those that are trying to discredit me."

Bwah ha ha . . . Then I reward myself with chicken strips, like a boss.

Called it!

As all inter governmental calls are routinely recorded. and transcribed, the truth will out some day.
in the UK's case, usually after 50 years. If they are not leaked sooner.

Why the hell didn't we just agree to send them both to somewhere utterly worthless? Like New Zealand?
Isn't Kentucky the New Zealand of the Americas?
Psychoslice would fit right in. Home to Mitch McConnell and voted strongly for Trump.

It the Americans are to invade, they'd better do it before they build the wall. All those soldiers will need to bring ladders.

If it is just a rumor, why spread kit???

I am curious what you think would happen if BOTH governments confirmed it was said verbatim?
Funny as it sounds, that may just be the case. From what I hear, it's all a matter of context. It seems to be more of a light hearted comment in the midst of a friendly conversation. The suggestion of sending in troops appears to have been nothing more than offering assistance in the drug war against the cartels.

But media - being as they are, always looking for a story - pounced upon the out of context statement and ran with it. Reminds me of the fake news story concerning the supposed "M. L. King bust removal" - just last week.
