Trump says he had 'every right' to interfere in 2020 election

Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump participates in a fireside chat during the Moms for Liberty National "Joyful Warriors" Summit, in Washington, U.S., August 30, 2024.

WASHINGTON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Republican former U.S. President Donald Trump, who faces federal and state charges accusing him of trying to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democratic President Joe Biden, insists he had "every right" to interfere in that election

"Whoever heard you get indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it?" Trump said in a Fox News interview that aired on
A federal indictment accuses Trump of defrauding the U.S. by attempting to prevent Congress from certifying Biden's victory and deprive voters of their right to a fair election. He faced a revised federal indictment last month accusing him of illegally trying to overturn his 2020 election loss.
Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 election results after weeks of false claims by Trump that he had won.

Trump faces similar charges in Fulton County, Georgia, where he was also charged with racketeering, which is used to target members of organized crime groups and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
That case, which is on hold while a state appeals court weighs the district attorney's role, stems from a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call in which Trump urged Georgia's top election official, Brad Raffensperger, to "find" enough votes to reverse his narrow loss in the state. Raffensperger declined to do so.

He could be referring to election corruption warranting interference. However he ought to point out said corruption if that is the case.

"Whoever heard you get indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it?"

Seems pretty straight forward to me. If he was trying to "interfere" with "election corruption" then subverting the constitution via fake electors and attempting to pressure mike pence into not certifying the election results isn't a legitimate way to deal with the perceived "corruption." Even with your spin doctoring it's an unconstitutional abuse of power

"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he wrote. “Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”

This is what he truly thinks. He feels justified in his entitlement to subvert and disregard the Constitution

The problem is the only documented election corruption cases involve Republicans. Nonetheless the Election Clause in the Constitution only Congress and the states have the right to regulate and enforce election laws related to elections, not the President.

Note" He stated he has the right to "INTERFER."

Except there was no corruption. Election officials were almost unanimous in declaring that the election was one of the fairest and most accurate ones ever and Trump's teams could never supply any evidence that the election was stolen. He was 0 and 60 when it came to legal challenges.

In 2020, the now known fact, that the deep state of the US Government, pressured social media to censor Trump, RNC and bury the Laptop story was not known, publicly, until a year after the election, due to a coverup. But Trump and his team knew about the censorship and that election interference, but the conspiracy who pressured social media to defraud the election, had to too much control over the legal process; law fare. They crooks ran out the clock and an illegitimate puppet President was elected. In 20/20 hindsight Trump was doing his duty. But did not seem like it at the time, due to the coverup. But now we know there was a crime and coverup.

It was the same group that ran the Russian Collusion Coup. That was also misuse of power, and I was surprised nobody, at the top, went to jail for that conspiracy. The Censorship of the Laptop used same playbook; Russian Interference. It was same swamp interference.

Those on the Left are trying to rewrite history, once again, when we now now the facts that Trump knew then. This is the third time Trump was blamed for the actions of the swamp. Trump will need to come down hard on them, or they will not stop; strike three and you are out.

The scary thing is that he really believes that - and some other people, too.
Correct. The best way to deceive others is to deceive the self first. Trump is truly a very disturbed man, but his confidence attracts the weak-minded. We don't know what threat his followers pose if he loses and demands they riot. If Trump demands his followers attack any house that has a Harris/Walz sign in their yard, how far will these people go? Vandalism? Murder?

Even the two companies hired by Trump to find election fraud, Berkely Research Group and Simpatico Software Systems, were unable to find outcome determinative fraud.

They Cyber Ninjas couldn't find any in Maricopa County, Arizona either.

If Trump loses the election, and asks his supporters to riot and commit violence, will you obey him?

If it is a 'well known fact' perhaps you could give us some sources.

Do you think it's more likely he's referring to what he attempted to do about this conspiracy?

For example, asking Mike Pence to overturn the election

or pressuring Georgia to find him 11,000 votes
37:47 (and if you watch the entire thing, it sounds like he's indirectly threatening him)

So, you support Trump's dishonesty and utter depravity, do ya. [notice this is not a question] So, his being found guilty on numerous felonious counts, and his being found guilty on impeachment charges [including by some in his own party], and his role in the insurrection on January 6th is some sort of fairy tale?

Trump asking for exactly 11,780 votes from the Georgia election board should have done it for him legally. Trump said 11,780 votes "is one more than we have". No, it's one more that you DON'T have, which is why you are asking for one more than what you lost by.

He did, said they were breaking the law, which they weren't.

You are of course a devoted fan of QAnon conspiracy theories and worship the golden Bull at the feet of Donald Teump

Trumps efforts to interfere in the election results was unconstitutional
