From National Review: Trump Touts Theory about Haitian Immigrants ...

“Our country is being lost,” Trump said. “We’re a failing nation.”
He urged viewers to look at what President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have “done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our county.”
“A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it because they’re so embarrassed by it,” he said, claiming that in Springfield, Ohio, immigrants are “eating the dogs.”
“The people that came in, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” Trump claimed, before going on to suggest Harris would destroy the country if she were to become president. “We’ll end up being Venezuela on steroids.”

NR later notes:

The debate moderators pushed back against Trump’s claims on Tuesday evening, noting ABC News had reached out to the Springfield city manager, who said there had been no credible reports of pets being harmed, injured or abused by members of the immigrant community.
Nonetheless, Trump doubled down.
“Well, I’ve seen people on television. The people on television say my dog was taken and used for food so maybe he said that, and maybe that’s a good thing to say for a city manager. People on television say their dog was eaten by the people who went there,” he said.

From Reuters Fact Check: No evidence of Haitian immigrants stealing and eating pets in Ohio
  • "Spokespeople for JD Vance did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Vance on Tuesday acknowledged the claims were not substantiated in an X post, opens new tab. "It's possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false," he said, before blaming healthcare, housing and education issues in Springfield on Haitian immigrants."
  • "VERDICT No evidence. There is no evidence that Haitian immigrants are killing and eating pets in Springfield, Ohio, according to local officials and police."
Trump and Vance have irresponsibly and viciously put a target on the back of an entire victimized community. Apparently, the MAGA scum are fine with this.

I'm sure they will come with their firearms and march them all off to FEMA camps.

This all has to do with Biden and Harris illegally allowing the free entry of 10,000's of undocumented Haitians. Then, Harris and Biden illegally force them on small communities, where the third world ways of the Haitians, have the locals scared.

I would ship them off to Biden and Harris's houses. Haiti is still in the voodoo frame of mind, with animals sacrifices, especially since there people are the poor and not the intellectual class.

If we ship them all to the homes of high level Democrats, like shipping illegals to Sanctuary cites, their tune will suddenly change. These Haitians are the DNC sticking to Trump voters, who never wanted illegal immigration. This should be the DNC problem, since they wanted it. Once Trump wins, he can ship all immigrants to Democrat run states and cities, with no federal aid, since none was ever appropriated. The Republican states can then su, the DNC, to recovered all costs. We can also trace all business who wanted this, and tax them for reimbursement.

As far as evidence, the DNC lies so I would wait until honest people do the investigation. I would trust the citizen being screwed but the DNC before the DNC. How about Biden and Harris being held liable if anyone is raped or killed? Biden will have immunity, due to the Supreme Court discussion, but Harris was VP President when this occurred and does not have immunity. We can have the trial in Ohio.

As usual, the truth lays somewhere in the middle of all the hyperbole.

As someone that has lived in cities, and had friends that lived in cities with Haitian immigrants, I can say that they do tend to be exceptionally aggressive, arrogant, violent, and given to criminality. Yes, this is a generality, but it's also the general experience many Americans have had with Haitian immigrants.

And if the local authorities are not mindful of this, they can and do often become a serious problem for any community they come to inhabit. Sorry if this offends anyone's liberal sensibilities, but sometimes the reality rejects our liberal sensibilities.

On the other hand, Trump's constant assertions that all immigrants are illegal, and all are horrific criminals, is absurdly ugly, untrue, and grandiose. We do need to get a grip on our immigration policies and practices, for sure. And we need to be mindful of what some immigrants from some places are likely to bring into our communities, and be prepared for it, or just flat out disallow it.

Were Haitians eating people's pets? Probably not. But from what I know of them, it's not an impossibility. Nor is something far worse.

I don't believe the rhetoric about eating pets without evidence, and I wouldn't be surprised if many of them are nice, hardworking people. That said, I have social and economic questions about people immigrating to this country. I don't think it's a win for leftism, if that's your side jayhawker, if people come here to get diverted into temp agency day-labor. I don't know if that's what happening, but that's the kind of thing that I think just puts money in a business major's pocket or something

I'm sure they are grateful do the work, and will work long hours if they can, but my fear is that they will be taken advantage of, and just be stuck in temp agencies forever, if that is who is hiring them over there. I may want to read a book on Haiti, to understand what happened there.

Both political sides are devoted to growing the GDP, and something about that involves always growing a nation's population. But a lot of the manufacturing type work that new immigrants might do, seems like it went overseas. Meanwhile, new stories are often run, and complaints are made, that large sections of our more native population here are going homeless, and getting addicted to things like fentanyl. The claim is made that these people are useless, where they could otherwise fill out manual labor that is available here

Why is that exactly? Well it seems like no one from america wants to go do factory work, or probably other types of heavy manual labor type work, from what I hear. I guess they were all raised to go to college, and get a better job, or go to streets. But part of the problem is, is that it doesn't pay enough to do blue-collar type work. But immigrants take this kind of work, likely in part because they aren't too familiar with american pop culture, which constantly shames working class jobs, (if not explicitly, then implicitly) or the idea of being in a multi-generational home

Some immigrants may want to escape from places where there is corrupt rule, sadly, but that shouldn't be what you have to go through to build up working class character, so you can work hard somewhere else. I don't know what is going on in the world, or in general human nature, that things can be like that

What a pathetically racist and uncaring piece of trash this statement is.

The Republican Ohio governor I heard on the news this morning said that there is not any evidence of Haitians killing pets in his state. You talk about honesty but post dishonesty. IOW, "Physician, heal thyself".

Also, K.D. Vance has lied about the "murder" by an "illegal alien" when the reality is that the man was killed in an auto accident, thus the driver was not charged with murder.

Please do the research instead of spouting such immoral misinformation!

The person killed was an 11 year old thrown from a school bus with 52 other people on board and we all know how safe school buses are.
Anyhow, The minivan driver was not an illegal alien, he is a refugee from Haiti here under protected status with appropriate US documentation.
He had a licence from Mexico but due to Ohio requirements was not eligible for an Ohio license. You can use a Mexican license in the US.
This is a most unfortunate situation, but the anti immigrant hysteria is disgustingly Un-American.

And as Trump tells us, there are good people on both sides.

As someone that has lived in cities, and had friends that lived in cities with Haitian immigrants, I can say that they do tend to be exceptionally aggressive, arrogant, violent, and given to criminality.

I suspect this anecdotal testimony is every bit as worthless as is the racist stigmatization of most if not all communities of color.

Again ....

Trump and Vance have irresponsibly and viciously put a target on the back of an entire victimized community. Apparently, the MAGA scum are fine with this.

And, for whatever reason, you seem to feel compelled to contribute to this campaign of denigration.

Yes, it's anecdotal. But keep in mind what a horribly violent place Haiti has been for the last 4 decades, now. You don't think that has effected the people living there? You don't think that mindset isn't going to follow them elsewhere?
And, for whatever reason, you seem to feel compelled to contribute to this campaign of denigration.
I'm just sharing what I know. I've lived in some rough neighborhoods in Chicago, and had friends that lived in rough neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and in both places the Haitians had a very a ruthless reputation, even among the gang-bangers.

No. Your just spreading your prejudice.

I've lived in some rough neighborhoods in Chicago, ...

FWIW:

My first wife and I, along with our four children, lived at 14th and Maxwell St. for some time. It was an almost entirely black apartment complex. I use to take the Halstead Street bus to and from the steel plant while working swing shift. My kids went to a virtually all black school. We we treated very well. Stop whining.

What makes you think this has anything to do with anyone being "black"? Sounds like you might be the one that's making prejudicial assumptions, here.

With the history of Haiti, yes, some may come to America with a chip on their shoulders. They were a fiercely abused slave population and the only to be successful in a 19th century slave revolt. It may have set them free, but it did not help their future. They've not prospered.

I spent two and a half years running a store in a southern city's neighborhood of Little Haiti. There were attitudes at first, nasty attitudes, but it was a defensive. Those well earned feelings of being prepared to fight prejudice and discrimination, stereotypes and assumptions, are what I advocate to change, and it begins with everyday, in every way, kindness.

And when Haiti was liberated, many countries, including the U, S., boycotted buying their produce, including sugarcane.
