Trump vowed to have military replace the wall

Trump can't find the money or right bill to get the wall in Mexico built:So yesterday he vowed to use the military to put at where the wall would be to police any immigrants from coming over.

He blamed Obauma and the Democrats for having such a crummy wall and situation for illegals for having to use the military.

That's makes me mad but Trump is mad now. I can't believe that idiot we voted into Washington is now using up all our money and Military on his stupid wall effort. Our military has a lot more important things to do like fight the 2 or 3 wars Trump has kept us in.This is stupid. Where is the money for this coming from I would like to know?

Using the military to enforce what would normally be law enforcement's role. What could possibly go wrong?

So he is pushing to use resources set aside for our military to build a wall the majority of the country doesn't want. Makes sense.

Hey, let's give Trump a pea-shooter and have him patrol the border 24/7. He's always shooting off his mouth, so why not put it to use?

I heard about this yesterday. This is precisely why I got out of the Army. This is not what the military is designed for. Also, he is even contemplating using part of the military budget to build that stupid wall.
Trump floats using military budget to pay for border wall

Technically right, but completely within bounds on national guard units. I have no problem if he mobilizes the entirety of the border state guards to hold the fort. He also has nearly all of the say of what happens with the military anyway. Commander-in-chief, and all that.

I note none of the Usual Suspects are even trying to defend this. Mexico's gunna pay for it, huh?

I've never really thought this was viable...

Posting military to defend the border is completely within his rights though. Won't need the wall if you put troops there.

It's actually his job to do this ultimately, not local law enforcement. Protecting borders, stopping invaders, etc.... all sounds like Presidential problems to me...

Think of it this way. at least the armed forces deployed in such a manner would be much safer than if the were in Afghanistan or Iraq. Though such a use of the military may not even be a constitutional. Far outside of my present knowledge. When it comes to Trump I mostly just shake my head these days. He no longer has the ability to shock or outrage me which is a rather sad statement in itself.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...

Rationalise away. That only utterly smashes 3 of his campaign promises in one stroke.

Yes, of course, Congress has nothing to do with it at all - it's all his fault.

His campaign is like any other for President, it's about what he believes in and what he will try to do. That's all anyone can do but implementation is based on legislation not his desires. That power can also be modified by SCOTUS or lower courts, so what exactly are you expecting?

However, on this issue in particular he needs to ask no one for anything - he can put as many troops as he wants at the border and dedicate whatever military funds he wants to things like the wall. I'm sure he didn't want to do it this way, but he certainly doesn't need to ask.

National Guard are mobilized by governor's, not the president, to operate within the US.

Yeah, but who's really going to say no? Typically that is not what is done - they do whatever he wants. Anyone that wouldn't help him protect the border is politically dead... career over... I promise you.

Trumps go to is to blame Dems. Trump is talking out of his rump again, Obama sent national guard to help border patrol, US has never had an open door policy. Federal law prohibits using active duty forces within our borders.
