According to the Aurora Police Department, in this city of some 400,000 people, there are 10 known or suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua accused of crimes. Ten. And six of them are in custody. No wonder I couldn’t find the “army of illegal alien gang members.”

When I learned that a supposed epicenter of the “war zone” was right across the street from the largest research hospital complex in the Rocky Mountain West, I hurried over. Some 1.5 million patient visits per year take place in those gleaming Aurora buildings. I could only imagine all the preying that must go on.
Yet, though I saw plenty of people coming and going along unguarded sidewalks, not one of them acted even a little bit scared.

No for the simple reason that it was a ridiculous overstatement of the problem even to the point that the video that was presented as proof of the situation was not even venezuelans and that gangs are a known problem in many areas unrealated to immigration, It is taking a rare behaviour that occurs in any group of people and using not to address the gang situation in economically depressed areas and using it to cast aspersions against a group of people who are not collectively responsible for the US citizens In the video or any other actions. Further, the evidence of the already incarcerated says we already have laws to deal with the gang members. They will already be subject to deportation without any further action of Trump's . He however will be violating the law if he just starts rounding up people for deportation due to the fact that they are mostly here in a legal process of asylum adjudication that protects them as it does you even if Trump personally defines you as the enemy within as he has even numerous members of the House and Senate and other Americans.

A surveillance camera in an Aurora apartment building captured images of a group of armed thugs banging on doorways in August. Police have identified the men, and to date, no connection has been drawn between them and any Venezuelan gang. But for rage-baiters on the right, it was off to the races.

Okay, there was one, please note, one event, where a group of armed thugs banged on doors in one, please note, one apartment complex. Most of them are now arrested and in jail. Where is the take over of even one apartment complex? Where is the take over of multiple apartment complexes? Trump lied and you bought it hook line and sinker.

There should be no gang activity at all in the United States, whether from the immigrant community or native born communities of people. It is a pattern of social behavior of youths that is not unique to Venezuelans or immigrants. You are not going to solve it by keeping immigrants from coming into the country. Most of the violent crime in this country is not committed by immigrants, but criminals have existed in every immigrant community that have come to the US. Unless you have no European or African ancestors, you and I are also products of communities that had gang and criminal activity associated with them. That doesn't make either of us a gang member or criminal. Nor does it make the majority of Venezuelan immigrants criminals.

That is the real point.

I wonder, actually, if anybody, anywhere, can demonstrate how any black person, any latino person, any gay person, any trans person, who while trying to enjoy their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as they see fit, has impaired any other American from trying to enjoy those same rights.

And of course I know they can't. But that's not the issue, is it? What Trump supporters want is to be wrapped in a cocoon of everybody being just like them in every way (which seems to include under-educated and terrified of foreign ideas and people).

I think Trump can win this election -- because there are far too many of those people: ignorant, bigoted, filled with both hate and fear, unsure of who and what they actually are and believe ('cause trust me, they don't believe what their churches tell them to).

And I also believe that will have a profound effect on the world, and that frightens me. I grew up when we were taught to "duck and cover" (which would only ensure our asses were blown up before the rest of our bodies).
