Trump's Secret Agenda...Kill The Electoral College

Trump to meet Michigan lawmakers in bid to overturn electoral defeat
Excerpted....
Nov 20 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump will meet with Republican leaders from Michigan at the White House on Friday as his campaign pursues an increasingly desperate bid to overturn the Nov. 3 election following a series of courtroom defeats.

The Trump campaign's latest strategy, as described by three people familiar with the plan, is to convince Republican-controlled legislatures in battleground states won by President-elect Joe Biden, such as Michigan, to set aside the results and determine Trump the winner.

"The entire election frankly in all the swing states should be overturned and the legislatures should make sure that the electors are selected for Trump," Sidney Powell, one of Trump's lawyers, told Fox Business Network on Thursday.

Back to me....
Some think that these antics are Trump's death rattle.
(I once naively posted that. But I've come to my senses.)
Clearly, The Donald is showing both his genius & his put
Ameristan first agenda.
How so, you ask?
Playing by the rules, & exploiting them in brilliant novel ways,
he's now showing us inherent flaws in the Electoral College.
The new one is more interesting & dangerous than the
occasional "faithless elector". We now see the faithless party
risk, ie, that if one party held enuf power in crucial states, they
could conspire to install an unelected President.

He must've realized this when he beat Hillary with a lower
popular vote count. This is how he's fixing that flaw, ie,
inspiring the country to switch to the popular vote.
He knows he won't win, but he's doing it for us.

For sooth, Donald Trump is God's gift to democracy,
although it took me awhile to realize this.

I am in favor of this, but it should be a sweeping act and hit all states at the same time. Ideally, before an election, not during.

There's the big problem...actually doing the deed.
But Trump has high hopes that we'll respond positively.

its easier to create chaos than to obtain interest with a talent for creativity. trump is still a narcissist with to much money and time on his hands.

his team of jokers are starting to look more like the suicide squad.

conquer and divide. he's going to destroy the republican party

Did it really take this long to realize how flawed the EC is?

I could have politely told you this when I first learned of the EC.

The EC is a relic of a government and culture that is long gone. The same can be said of some of the amendments.

It doesn't take a genius to do something that we all knew as a loophole. It takes a man in his final days of desperation frantically completing his list of things to do. This was planned out a long time ago. He knows the negative impact this has so it was planned to be done if the court cases have no results.

Seriously. Please don't label him as a genius. My 10 year old could have come up with this idea after reading about these electors.

I will have you know that my bias dictates that I will hate anything Trump does, as per protocol. (I don't make the rules)

Ideally, before an election, not during.
This is key, honestly. Within any "contest" (such as this election) it is understood that the contestants are going to play the game according to the official rules, and play to the strengths they can carve out within those rules. Under the electoral college model, this means focusing your campaigning time, dollars and exposure in the states that provide the biggest bang for the buck according to the rules as they are laid out. To then switch the rules, at the END OF THE CONTEST, to something else is to (at least partially) negate the strategy of the candidates during the contest - convoluting the entire situation and throwing into uncertainty the legitimacy of the outcome. You win according to the rules, but then the rules are changed such that your win is recanted? And this done purposefully BY YOUR COMPETITION? This is the stuff for board-game night arguments and antics - not world-altering political/social decisions.

Changing / improvising rules, wasn't that a Florida problem in Bush v gore?

Ah yes, the old "Trump is playing 4D chess" hot take.

Yeah, no. Trump cares about #1. He's a narcissist. He doesn't like being told no. He wants to win. That's the beginning and end of these desperate gasps for relevance.
