Learn about HAFs current projects and recent accomplishments. HAF is the ONLY Hindu advocacy organization based in Washington DC. View a short 45 second video to learn more about HAFs Education and Awareness Events.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is the first Hindu ever elected into the U.S. House of Representatives. Tulsi chose to be sworn into office on the Bhagavad Gita in January 2013. She is currently a Captain in the Hawaii National Guard. Tulsi has been serving her state and country for more than a decade. An advocate for environmental policy, Tulsi ran for the Hawai'i State Legislature in 2002 and became the youngest person ever elected. A year later, Tulsi joined the Hawai'i National Guard. During her deployment to Iraq and the Middle East in 2004, Tulsi received multiple awards and recognition.Tulsi was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal during Operation Iraqi Freedom, was the first female Distinguished Honor Graduate at Fort McClellan's Officer Candidate School, and was the first woman to ever receive an award of appreciation from the Kuwaiti military on her second overseas tour.
