Dude why do you think I am supporting the "arab culture" you have mixed for with Islam? The Islam I practice is goes well with the modern world EDIT: The laws mentioned in the Quran are there for a reason IMO and they are meant for an Islamic state which you are not part of, Personally I want equal rights for women and gays too in Australia..All Im saying is stop fingering a pie that aint yours..
wow. I don't know what it is with this forum. Let me be clear this time.

I DON'T THINK THAT ISLAM IS INNATELY SEXIST. I BLAME THE CULTURE OF SPECIFIC PARTS OF THE WORLD FOR THE SEXISM. ISLAM IS IN NO WAY TO BLAME FOR HOW THOSE WOMEN ARE TREATED. I DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO.

Thank you. I think you and I are on the same page for the most part. We both want equality. The main difference is you have made the valid point of "where do I get off..." on judging another culture. I also agree on this part. I simply have a set of things I personally don't feel is acceptable ever in this world and support movements to combat them. That is all.
No I dont feel I have the authority, but I would definitely feel that I did a terrible job as a parent (which according to my beliefs I will be judged for) if my daughter dresses like a skank or works as a hooker. I would feel that I have not fulfilled my responsibility to her.

I think I would feel the same way. The main point I want to stress is women's freedom of choice does not equal dressing slutty. It can encompass that but it doesn't mean that.

Movements that first bomb and then invade countries? Based on bogus lies like Osama is hiding there or they have WMD's, after all is said and done we can atleast sleep happy thinking the Iraqi and Afghanis have been liberated and we have set up a democratic system which promotes equality..
Yeh I dont support those kind of movements.

True, and I did not mean to imply that, I just wanted to demonstrate that their are deeper concerns and underlying reasons, more than meets the eye, the same can be said about alot of the Quran, you on the outside cannot perceive it the same way I do.

Neither do I and I want that to be clear. I don't support any of the current military action in the middle east. I don't support the overwhelming vast majority of military action being used in the middle east in the past 12 years. It was about oil and next to nothing has been done to help advance the countries.

I am for humanist movements rather than military ones. Non-violence.

I am aware of those and I think they can be discussed within the confines of households and not in the law or even the overall culture.
