Twilight vs Harry Potter

I'm also surprised that this has not been done either. I was writing a post on my other thread: Edward vs Jacob, and was going to mention this on there but I decided I would stick to topic and just create a new thread.

So, comments please. Once again, good or bad, I don't care I just want opinions.

Although I love the Twilight series I still think the Harry Potter series is WAY better.

At least Harry Potter has the redeeming characterstic of having the score done by John Williams - so I guess I'd have to go with it.

For whatever reason, I love watching the Harry Potter films. If I see them on TV I just leave it there.

I remember watching the first one when it came out, and I just thought it was magical.

I though I never liked the replacement headmaster, that is my only real gripe with the movies now.

I agree, I don't like the new headmaster much either. It's a shame the original headmaster died (RIP).

I've only seen one HP movie. I have not read the books.

Having read the entire Twilight series and seen both movies so far, I would have to say HP must be better. I did not find Stephenie Meyer to be a very good writer. Honestly, I would have never continued with the other 3 books if not for the fact that my daughter was reading them (I wanted to preview them). I enjoy seeing the movies mainly because I want to see how the books translate to film, but otherwise, it's pure fluff.

That out of the way, I do want to be a vampire now. :bat:

Done here.
I've read all the Harry Potter books and seen all the movies so far, and generally (though not unreservedly) enjoyed the experience. I haven't read the Twilight books or seen the movies, and don't have much inclination to. My sister-in-law gave me the first two books, and my nephew assured me that "all the fifteen-year-old girls" like them -- he definitely didn't mean it as a compliment. :)

I would agree on that. The HP series is so written so much better than Twilight, although I do somewhat like the Twilight story better, as I had personal experience related to it, except instead of me being a vampire, it was me being of a different religion than my girlfriend. Reading Twilight gave me an idea for a book actually, about a human boy who falls in love with a girl angel. I think it'd be a good idea. What do you guys think?

I doubt it would appeal to me, but your girlfriend would probably find it flattering. ;)

Oh, yeah *nods* ~ I like the concept. Apparently I'm not the only one, as now I see vampire-influenced stuff everywhere, for all ages. I haven't seen True Blood yet, but my in-laws are big fans.

I like your idea too, Fluent Yank. :)

I need to send you a frubal Anne. Thanks for the support!:D

Comparing an imaginative real-world fantasy with stories centered around a school to a poorly written, plotless series that just amounts to a romance novel series with metropires (I refuse to dignify them with the name vampire) isn't really fair IMO.

I loved the romance in the Twilight series and I have all the books. My future sister in law has them but they're still mine. If you want good vampire novels read Anne Rice. Much better than Twilight.

Well, I have never read the Twilight series, but I have read all of the Harry Potter books and seen the movies to date.

I was sitting with a friend in a movie and a Twilight trailer came on (I can't remember for which one. The newest one?). There were these awesome werewolves and these awesome vampires gonna battle. Then we realized it was Twilight. Then we both agreed it would be a better movie/book if it was just werewolves and vampires in one big epic war against each other. We would also like to see the including of zombies (preferably of the Nazi variety), but beggars cannot be choosers I suppose.

Yeah... glorifying stalker, overprotective boyfriends isn't all that appealing to me.

EDIT: Unless there's a Rifftrax in the background. ^_^
