Two white girls did it last night!

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Done here.
Those are some creepy-looking girls.

Daimeyen's funny, though. He seems very entertained by the whole thing.

Man, you should really change the title of this thread. You had me all excited until I read the OP.

Hey, it's called "Bait and Switch."

It's one of those things that sales and marketing people are good at (in other words, ********).

Oh man that was too funny! When that guy said it looked like they were trying to steal his aunties rims I just busted out laughing.

Yeah, that's why I didn't actually watch the video. I treated this the same way I treat those sales and marketing people.

Well, sometimes you'll misjudge people if you insist on profiling.

Speaking of profiling, I am serious mball - you should watch this video. Watch it to the end - it is so freaking funny!

Anytime two guys named LeDarius and Dameon actually get to call the cops on two little blonde girls named Paige Lynn and Skye Marie - well, it's pretty funny. Throw in some ebonics and...well, it's...ironic.

"Don' look like you's tryin to check de tags...Look like you's tryin' to steal my auntie's rims!"

Yes, Damien is the real star.

No, there's no punchline or complicated plot. It's just a funny clip.

The take away line has GOT to be "Look like you tryin to steal my auntie's RIMS!"

I was at a baseball game this weekend and was sitting there talking with one of the school officials, who is African American. He is an avid golfer and he was laughing about a time he won a prize in a golf tournament and it was two free weeks of tanning. So we were talking about racial profiling and that whole bit in a lighthearted way. I asked him if he had seen the newscast. We got to talking about names and, well, you gotta admit...

It's just not all that often that two people named LeDarius and Damien catch two people named Skye Marie and Paige Lynn stealing their auntie's rims.

Humor is subjective. Maybe it IS an American "thing."

But then - we can laugh at ourselves, and that's a healthy thing to be able to do.

I always found laughing at yourselves is a thing Americans struggle with :S

Interesting - I won't follow that with a slam against Canadians, because that would be a pretty juvenile thing to do, especially on a thread that is simply light humor.

I will say - to the Canadians' credit, that my husband had lunch with a couple of Candadians yesterday and when he told them about this newscast, he said he nearly had to scrape them off the floor, they were laughing so hard.

So at least SOME Canadians have a good sense of humor!

I haven't done much travelling, but I find it hard to believe that the makeup of a population is much different anywhere. I know lots of nice people, and I've encountered some real (insert your own derrogatory noun here). I'd be highly surprised if there was much variance around the globe. Anyway, luckily I have my fantasy of two white girls doing it to keep me in a good mood. (ohh, how about an asian and couple of black girls in the mix too.....oh the things I can only imagine 8^)

I believe that people are pretty much the same when it comes to tendencies, emotions, that sort of thing. However, humor IS often a cultural thing. For example, if a person from France was telling me a joke that revolved around names that had a certain connotation in France that had to do with racial or cultural groups - I probably just wouldn't get it.

The thing about this clip that makes it so funny is the cultural groups that are highlighted by the stereotypical names. So I can see how it may be funnier to people more familiar with the groups that are stereotyped in the clip.

Of course, if one is overly politically correct, I guess the clip might be offensive - and certainly not funny.
