U.S. Government: is it time for a replacement?

There's no doubt in this day and age that our government is full of coruption. And it seems to get worse as time goes on. What I'd like to know is do you think our current government can be saved from it's own corruption or do you think we need to throw out the whole system and start over? Why do you feel this way? If it can be saved what do you think would be required to save it and how could we go about accomplishing this? If we need to start over what do you think THAT would take and how could it be accomplished?

Not at all. I welcome everyone's input:D. I didn't mean for it to be exclusive to U.S. residents only.

Done here.
I really wish we had a parliamentary system. The US suffers, in democracy as in much else, from the curse of all early adopters. We adopted democracy before the kinks were worked out, and now we're stuck with an inferior and outmoded system.

A parliamentary system isn't perfect, but it would free us from the constraints of our two-party system as well as giving us a better means of throwing the scoundrels out.

However, the change would require a constitutional convention, and I'd greatly fear a constitutional convention in the current political climate. There's no telling what we might end up with.

Reason, and reason again
Start over? Good God no! Anarchy [direct democracy] is the future. :D And it ALWAYS takes a revolution or uprising to kick the leaders out of power -- whether it's peaceful or not is another question.

What we need is a system WITHOUT rulers.

The rulers we have now are products of our great institutions. The values they were brought up on were produced by centuries of scientific materialism. If we are unhappy that they seem to only be interested in money and/or power than we need only look at ourselves and wonder what we would probably do if we were in thier position. You can't expect real change to be produced from a vacuum.

Afraid I don't know what a "parliamentary system" is. Could you explain it to me? Thanks

We must first attempt to change the sytsem by working through the one that we have in place...Remember that we CAN change the people that are in power by simply voting them out of power. I know that this is hard to do with the deception of the media and their silencing of the truth, but it must be attempted before an actual uprising. Do I believe that change must be made? Absolutely. Do I believe that an uprising against the whole system is the answer at this time. Probably not, although I would silence never one's attempts to do so and would listen attentively.
