Barely use physical money anyway these days. Happen to have some money in my pocket now only because my son paid me cash so I could order a gift for his wife online.

I don't think money will disappear, but we might see a dramatic change in economies including a universal minimum income. Time will tell.

Initially they may stay - in transition period. Those who have a lot of money now should be able to somehow transition them into redeemable units or otherwise we will have several classes of people.

pretty much every futuristic movie scenario depicts this [money/employment/social caste systems]

Several take-out restaurants where I live will not take cash because of Covid-19. Plastic only - they don't have to touch anything, I swipe their machine. But anyway, this seems discriminatory against those with no credit.
