Question Everything
What makes people think they are so important?

Let’s be real. With most people I am not going to bother remembering your name, much less your “preferred pronouns”. As soon as our business is concluded I am gone and you will probably never see me again. I will not be going through your dictionary of leftist propaganda with you reviewing every little thing you identify as. I honestly don’t care.

That's the point - for people, it's safer to keep it generic, they/them covers everyone and you don't have to worry about anything.

What if a person has expressed a preferred pronoun that isn't neutral?

I think people get way too offended by language usage like this.
People very definitely get way too offended over being asked not to use a specific pronoun, I agree.

Can you explain why this is even an actual problem?
Does it cause you pain? Does it offend your pride or your religion?

It irritates me that people are so easily offended. Especially when I'm accustomed to a certain language usage all my life. No false pride, and no religion to speak of. It's not that important.

I can live with it.

A language that remains stagnant is a language which dies.
Do you really think your parents understood all the slang you and your friends used to use?
Welcome to the rite of passage known as “language passing you by.” I experienced it not too long ago, speaking to my younger nephew and his friends

Then I'll just have to be stubborn, old, and grouchy and stick to my ways, lol.
