My ancestors have a street named after us in Halifax, Nova Scotia.... apparently the family did a lot with the shipping industry way back when.

My father's paternal side of the family came from Scotland to Prince Edward Island. The first Williams was a Shipbuilder. Maybe they did business with your people.

The Williams were possibly neighbors of my maternal line. James Lyle immigranted to PEI through Philladelphia in 1830. In his fathers line a Thyriza Lyle (b. 1835, PEI) married a James Rood whose son Herbert married an Ellie Williams (guessing about 1885 +/- 5 years). Does Indian River or Lot 16 ring any bells?

Samuel Williams and his wife sailed on the Humphreys in 1806 from Scotland to Nova Scotia. They settled in Charlottestown and he was a shipbuilder. The second generation. The family of Samuel Williams, II moved to a farm on Lot 29. This area was Crapaud and there is a book about it's history in which the Williamses appear. The Williamses married McLeans and Mcintoshes. Samuel Williams II married Margaret Brown and she was the one who moved the family to Lot 29. Have you seen this website. I have our family history listed there.

One of my friends is aMcLean. His family is from that area of the maritimes as well. I wonder if there's a relation?

Anyone else here of Celtic descent? If so, what clan are you originated from? Mine is Clan Mac Aoigdh.

LK, you are descended from the McLeans? If so, you are related to Sir Sean Connery.

We also have some McIntosh and McKenzie. Apparently the Willimases were Scottish also.

McKenzie Clan is descended from the Mac Aoigdh clan, same as mine is. We're related! :jiggy:

According to "family sources", I am related to Princess Di through my maternal Grandmother, and General Grant through my paternal Grandmother. Then of course there was Jan Murray who married my Father's aunt. I have heard someone remark though that half the continent claims lineage from Grant. :D
