Video Game Hall of Fame and Museum

Would you visit one? Attend a yearly expo event with gaming competitions, video game creators, old consoles and games on display and to play? Would you find it interesting?

It would be pretty sweet to go to one but I hope it doesn't interfere with Dungeons & Dragons night and then there's that new episode of Dr. Who my mom always forgets to Tivo for me and I don't want Jeremy Schneider to see it before I do because he'd blab about it at school the next day and I also need to see if mom can drive me down to the museum after my mathletes practice.

When I was in high school I went to something called The Tournament of Power. They had video games everywhere and they were rigged so you didn't have to put quarters in. The hot new game we played was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was cool because four of us could play at once. :) We had competitions on the original NES, but I forget what game it was. I think it was Tetris or something. This may have been the only time I gladly took part in a school activity on a Sunday. Gosh I am kind of giving away my age with the games we played, aren't I? On the way there we had our own Tetris competition on our Game Boys with the cable linking them together.

I'm thinking of going to the expo in August. It's just the second one and I didn't even know about the one last year. They're just getting started. They already have non-profit status and such. They're really looking towards getting a permanent building now. Right now they're just doing the shows and such at the civic center.

I think it's more going to be like the Baseball Hall of Fame and whatnot. I don't know about the annual expos, but I guess I'll see if I go.

Official. They have their non-profit status and are looking into acquiring a building to set up as the Hall of Fame and museum. Ottumwa IA, where Twin Galaxies got its start as an arcade.

I don't remember a single salesman at the thingie I went to. I am sure there are others that are just the opposite. I think they wanted us to have a ball though and then go home and tell our friends about the new cool games.

That kind of sounds like what it would be like, but with more a nostalgia thing than a "new cool game" thing. It's more about the history of gaming than what's new and upcoming really.

Still, like I said, it's just really getting started, at least they're trying to. They don't have a building yet and they have to raise funds for that and all, so an actual museum and such might be a few years off. What they are trying to get started is the events at least so that they can draw in the money to actually get the building and everything else a proper museum/Hall of Fame would need.

Was anyone a Frogger addict back in the day?
