Video games, abortion, and separation of church & state to blame for school shootings?

Notice the usual republican line after the shootings? Blame video games, blame buildings, blame everything else. Last I checked, video games are played across the world, they don't have this problem.

Tons of elected republicans put the bible above the constitution. More proof the abortion debate is religious driven. We need a better educated populace, this is disgusting.

These elected officials are trying to legislate with christianity in mind. That's unconstitutional.

Japan is an overwhelmingly non-christian nation that plays the exact same violent games we do. Hell, they even make most of them, yet they don't have anywhere near the same level of violent crime that we do. Hmm...

That, or the climate change hoax is eroding our nation's moral fiber.
The sort of idiocy that the Republican in your link said always sets me off. Of course perhaps I should be a bit more charitable. Democrats have said similar idiocy after other tragedies. I think that we can all agree that what he proposed is nowhere close to being an explanation, much less being an answer to this problem that we have been seeing all too often lately.

That, and when people use "whataboutism" as a defense, especially when they have to go back years to dig up an example.

As expected, republicans are just using random stuff they don't like as a scapegoat, even if it makes no logical sense. He should've also blamed gay marriage, rap/rock music, and taxes while he was on a roll.

I blame bird watchers, craft beer, and people who drive too slow in the fast lane.

Since you wanted this to be a partisan thread it's fair because if they said it and wanted to do it, it is relevant .

That both sides have targeted video games doesn't make it any less of a dumb argument.

Of course the thread is 'partisan' because it's addressing something that a republican said regarding a current event.

Now, about the Jesus 'n fetus parts of the equation...

Now that part we can agree on, that argument seems to be in the line of reasoning of someone from the Westboro Baptist Church saying U.S. soldiers are getting killed because the U.S. allows homosexuality.

You don't hear RW media mention this at all. That would hurt the agenda. (manipulation)

Ahh the political aftermath of school shootings in America. Whilst we have sympathy for the tragedy this is the part where the rest of the world grabs its popcorn and places bets on which random "issue" the polies argue caused it. Guess I won 10 bucks.

(Ps No offence to Americans, but this is comedy gold.)

Is the USA the only country in the world that should issue Bullet proof vests as part of all school uniforms?
This would surely reduce the number of deaths per school shooting that currently appear to occur on average every 2 months.
However it does not address the elephant in the room.
If you watch a UK crime drama it is usually solved with logic and deduction and minimal violence.
If you watch a US crime drama it is usually solved with an OK Corral action packed shootout with maximum action and violence.
This John Wayne mentality of solving all problems with Lead is a uniquely US phenomena and totally alien to most of the rest of civilised societies.
After all along with Iran, North Korea and China, the US still has the death penalty, so the US has still a way to go to become a truly civilized society.

Cheers

I wonder how much research the lawmaker has done on pornography.
Perhaps we should take up a collection on RF, & buy him her some subscriptions
in his her name to Bigguns, Hustler, Playboy, Home Organist, Leather Lads, etc.
Let his her family, mailman & neighbors know that he she seeks knowledge.

Look at me, prejudicially presuming the lawmaker is a man.
I fixed my post.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
According to the Texas Lt. Governor, anyway: Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick blames abortions, video games for school shootings - not guns - CNN

And of course, their proposed solution is to turn schools into prisons.
No, it's pornography, not guns

Tennessee lawmaker says pornography is "root cause" of school shootings - CNNPolitics
