Video games dont make kids violent - how you are brought up and your parental interaction does though. How many kids or adults that kill people say it was the faul t of GTA? and that playing the Play Station or PC made you kill?

Watch the news thats worse as its fact - real life - real deaths...its worse. My boy woke up screaming one night as he had a nightmare and i know what it was - it realted to the Tsunami events which he had seen on the 6 o'clock news - and it was playing on his mind not the Lord of the rings game he played earlier - where he had just killed 200 orks with an AXE? when i sat down and explaned the tsunami through he was ok about it and we kept him away from the TV newstimes after that..the real question should be: Q)IS TV good for children...

Video games offer you the chance to choose the experience. What experience do we want to go through? Horror (Fear) Soldier (military) Cute mascot character (fun) Story based Adventure (hero/justice) What do you want to be (purpose/desire)?

One of the things that video games have always instigated was to observe to always look around all ways. Where are you (environment)? Where do you want to go (objective)? What is it that you see (perception)? What is it that you are missing (inventory/stock) ? Even when you quit the game you eventually do this instinctively for everything.

Video games teach you to work within your means (realistically). You can’t advance to another part of the game unless you have or need something (knowledge)? How do I get that something (inquisitiveness)? What do I have to do to get that (research)? In most instances the experience is a lonely solo effort, video games demand you think and rely for yourself (self-reliance/worth).

It teaches you many ways around a problem and that there can be more than one discerning TRUTH. That you may have to “suffer” or take a few risks to get there. It teaches you to literally learn from your mistakes and teaches you patience and humbleness. It teaches you to continually strive and survive.

It rewards you for your persistence (You received the Great Sword of Valour). Great obstacles most be overcome (the Giant Minotaur must be defeated) if you are to climb higher, experience must be achieved and the wisdom to use this new discovery (you have learned “The Swinging Thunder Kick”-Press X while holding down L and R together).

I do not think there is any gamer who plays games because they are bored or just need an outlet. For the people who have played many different types of game genres there are many lessons that we can learn from video games that we can apply to real world situations.
