From Newsweek: JD Vance's Attack on Kamala Harris Sparks 'Disgust'
Disgust is more than appropriate.
Footage of JD Vance apparently suggesting that Vice President Kamala Harris is one of "a bunch of childless cat ladies, who are miserable at their own lives" has gone viral, as his comments sparked revulsion online.
The Ohio senator—whom Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, picked to stand as his running mate—appeared to suggest that people without children shouldn't be allowed to work in politics because they "don't really have a direct stake" in the country.
He is thought to have made the claims in 2022, during a Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson, while running for the Senate. Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of the liberal news site MeidasTouch.com, posted the clip on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday. It has since been viewed more than 5 million times.
Vance's comments sparked criticism across the platform, with one X user writing he had stoked "primal hatred and disgust" in her. News of his remarks come amid a barrage of racist and sexist abuse being directed at Harris online after she became the front-runner for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. President Joe Biden stood down from the electoral campaign over the weekend and endorsed Harris.
Disgust is more than appropriate.
