Voting = Shirk?

Walking through a predominantly Muslim area of Manchester this morning, as I do on the way to university, I found that somebody had stuck up lots of stickers, on lamp posts, ATMs and so on.

The stickers read: "Warning. Voting for man-made laws is Shirk. Association with Allah."

Note that we have a national election coming up in the UK on Thursday.

I wonder what people's views are on this. Is it idolatry to vote for man-made laws? Should a Muslim not vote? Can a Muslim vote for a party promising to institute Shariah law?

Thankyou.

They are Takfiris. I have nothing to do with them.

Anyways its wise to vote for a party that protects minority rights and has good economical and social plan for the country.

If u dont want to live in Kuffar country then u are welcome to leave them, or u are free not to vote, but to yell at fellow muslims who wants to participate by voting is really annoying.

They can always move to ISIS's socalled caliphate.

First time i hear voting is shirk, i think this statement is done by politicians to weaken the Muslims position in the election.

I'm not sure that would make sense. The Muslims in the area seem to be generally Labour voters, and it's a Labour safe seat.

To Vote in Elections of Non-Islamic Countries

Q: Is it allowed to vote in national elections of non-Islamic countries? If yes, is it permitted to vote for a candidate who enjoys Muslims’ support in certain issues (e.g. the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq) and not for another candidate?
A: There is no objection to voting for candidates in elections of national councils to take charge of Islamically lawful social and political responsibilities. In this regard, it makes no difference whether the candidate is a Muslim or not.

Voting is allowed in Islam, as per my teachings, education and cultural exposure. Even here in Makkah we do internal votes for prestigious positions. Doesn't reach political/ruling positions, but it includes voting nevertheless.

People might come up with exceptional cases in Islamic laws to use against voting as a concept, but those can never make blasphemy out of voting.

There is no restriction in Islam weather you vote or don't vote.Every individual have the freedom to do what he or she wishes.
My personal opinion is if i am living in a non-Muslim country then i will vote for that party or member (Muslim or non-Muslim) that is prepared is serve my interest.
