Wall-E: Best science fiction movie ever made?

Wall-E was great.... But, it seemed to easy to get. Not enough going on, it goes too easy.

Old timers such as the Lion King had more to follow at once, and i think that is what i loved. They are making it all a little too easy to get at the moment. I know a kid doesent want a complicated storyline, but i think movies nowadays are too easy to follow.

My point is that, Lion King is the best movie made in history of films. No movie EVER will be better than it.

Wall*E was fantastic, but a far cry from the best sci-fi picture ever made. I wouldn't even say it's the best KIDS sci-fi film. Well, maybe if you break it down even further by age-appropriateness, but then it's the only one (as far as I know).

Anyway, I loved the movie, right down to the credits.

What other good kid's SF movies are there, Storm? All I can think of is Zathura, which was a fun kid's flick (even if it was quite formulaic character development).

yes he does lol\

I saw Wall-E a while ago, and I thought it was very good indeed. Very enjoyable.
And both are copying E.T.

Which, BTW, is a terrific SF movie for kids (better than Wall-E, IMO).

Titan AE I love that movie.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

You know, I have never watched the entire ET movie before - I'll keep an eye out for that one too. You can tell I don't watch many movies.

I liked Titan AE for Fox's guts in the production values, but the story-telling fell WAY flat. Some of the characters were good, though. However, Titan AE is notorious for effectively obliterating Fox's once large animation department.

That's a common mistake with the new animation technologies - thinking that improvements in technology and celebrity voices can somehow replace good stories and good characters. Pixar's success is 90% writing and 10% CGI.

BTW, is that a picture of Tom Hulce or Adam Sandler?

I disagree with you about the storytelling, but I'm admittedly not that critical. A movie either engrosses me or doesn't. Titan AE did.

Why do you think it fell flat?

I loved Wall-E! Part of the reason why I enjoyed it was because it had so little talking. Words are merely signifiers for the signified. By attempting to directly express the signified objects, it's easier to break through the ambiguity of socially-defined labels and get the real messages across.

Yes it is! That's why 2001 is so great, too. I've always had a special fondness for the silence of the late seventies version of The Black Stallion for that reason. We find ourselves in silence perhaps.

Great! Maybe I'll give those a go.

I find myself taken aback when people say they hated it.

... I almost feel sorry!

I enjoy watching Pixar films and this was the best in my opinion. I think it was the lack of dialogue and the visual methods used that just drew me in.

What I miss the most are old animated classics such as Watership Down and The Plague Dogs or some Rankin/Bass flicks......but that's probably nostalgia as much as anything else.

Which means I'm getting old.
