Psychiatrists are now saying ther is a link between schizophrenia and shamanism but can they really know what that is? The modren day, city dwelling shaman has to adjust to his surroundings. Signs, clues and codes, coincidences hints that only a few will pick up..

The sprirt world works on natural order, it's not wise to try to manipulate it, it might bite you back. Pan is the wild male spirit which cannot be surpressed in modern man. It comes out somehow. I don't believe jesus existed but was, instead, an identifiable archetype for the qualities we assume 'god' would have. Was jesus a shaman? Well, if you look at his reported life, he undertook a pilgrimage into the wilderness, bringing back a message (a shamanistic trait), he healed people both physically and spiritually (another shamanistic trait) and he died and was reborn (yet another trait). Perhaps the story of jesus represents a shaman's view of releasing a message of love. hope and redemption to people.

I'm interested in finding out about this link. I'm also interested in the fact that the title of this thread is "Was jesus a shaman", but the OP didn't address this at all. All we got was the Beckhams, Pan and paedo priests!

I have a hard time to believe that shamanism is linked to schizophrenia. Primarily because I've done quite a bit of research on shamanism. My main research has been shamanism in Egypt and India. From what I've seen, most of these shamans are nothing more that charlatans. Especially in India, they know exactly what they are doing, as in they know they are doing nothing more than cheap parlor tricks.
