As Facebook shuts down accounts for mainstream conservative commentators, many on the right are warning this is only the beginning.

One America’s Pearson Sharp explains how this far-left corporate censorship is just the first step in a war to silence conservative voices.

If you watched the report you'll see that FB in order to not appear to be censoring Conservative voices only did shut down some Liberal pages.

Free speech isn't something Facebook supports.

That God who was Jesus Christ of the new testament incinerated Sodom and Gomorrah for their sins. Homosexuality being but one. Prior he identified one righteous man who would be saved from destruction along with his family. And that righteous man had sex with his daughters later on.

Alex Jones, and I am no fan, is nothing compared to God!

Only seen one or two videos of Alex Jones. Don't know if he encourages violence. See a number of Paul Watson and Milo, never heard them encourage any violence of any kind.

What makes them so dangerous that they have to be "deplatformed" by Facebook?

PJW apparently had a few issues in his younger days working with Greenpeace. Trying to save the whales, working for animal rights and protecting trees. The makings of a fairly liberal activist that somehow ended up on the conservative side of things.

Facebook is a private company. They get to make the rules about their own platform. The first amendment is about government suppression of free speech. It doesn't give everyone the right to use a private platform.

What, you want the government to interfere on how a private company runs it's business?

FB is no longer a social platform. They are a publisher now. Paul Joseph Watson, Farrakhan, and Milo did nothing to break the terms of service. FB just decided to delete them to limit their influence. Of course this doesn't work. Milos rise to power was partly due to Twitter censoring him by removing him. By restricting certain speech it only gives that speech more weight/power.

Yes these are not mainstream conservatives unless the wingnut looney right is not mainstream which makes some sense to me. Their stock in trade is hate, fear, lying and selling themselves to the highest bidder.

Sure, it's called regulation. Government says no plastic straws, no plastic bags, no mylar balloons. Not a big fan of regulation but the government regulates where it sees fit.

Do I want it? Meh, I don't know. Could live the rest of my life without FB. Still the idea of neutrality might be important to enough that they ask the government to regulate.

Problem here is that this assumption is countered by the fact that FB and Google provide censorship in order to operate in China. That boat has sailed. Now it is an issue for governments to resolve by forcing both to become legal publishers

Alex Jones is crazy though. Milo is provocative and I have seen many of his videos. I’m not exactly shocked.
I used to run in these circles and they are nothing but toxic and hateful.
That said, I don’t know if deplatforming them is the correct move as it only allows them to play martyr to their audience. Monitor them and reprimand them if they encourage hate, sure. But don’t give them fuel for their overinflated egos.

I did some research and there seems to be a new crop of people after the mold of Rush Limbaugh. It seems like one man supports them. I came out of that mind set.

Facebook and Twitter and Instagram....all private companies who have the right to determine who uses their services. They have the right to ban anybody, for any reason.

I don't like what they are doing...but going after them and asking the government to force them to 'not censor' things.....is censoring THEM, and violating the first amendment. Rock and Hard Place, here.

The solution is to make platforms that do not censor--or rather, which censor the 'other way.' Get a good dialogue going between the left biased Facebook, etc., and whatever you come up with.

Don't allow anybody to tell Facebook what they can do, or censor. Do that, and a precedent is set that will bit YOU in the butt, if and when you get a service that is biased right. ...and that WILL happen, eventually.

The first amendment is...for the government, and it protects those with whose opinions we do NOT agree, not those with whose opinions we do.
