We have a problem.

We have encountered a problem. The sisters tie threads on the wrists of their brothers. That signifies the protection of the sisters by brothers. Many people, brothers and sisters do not eat or drink water till Rakhi is tied. Today, Poornima (Full Moon) begins at 1.30 pm. So no Rakhi tying before that time. My wife's elder brother has informed her that he cannot remain hungry for all that time.

The Problem: Priests say that Ravana's sister, Shurpanakha (nails like a Sieve), tied the Rakhi at the wrong time. That resulted in Lakshmana cutting Shurpanakha's nose, in Ravana abducting Sita in Revenge, attack and destruction of Lanka and death of Ravana.

The Solution: Priests have suggested that sisters do not tie the rakhi but give it in hands of brothers, have their breakfast, and tie the rakhi when Poornima begins. You can always depend on priests for rescue. :D

Purchasing the Rakhi, Girls tying rakhis on hands of soldiers.

Evil (of all kinds) has always been there in the world. That does not diminish the value of good. :(

Sigh I tied the rakhi at the wrong time for my brother because I wouldn't see him today... I'll have to rely on my prayers and Sri Bhagavan to make it ok :(

Someone tell me it will be ok! This is my first year celebrating and I didn't know.

Aum Hari Aum!

It honestly doesn't matter in my opinion. My cousins have done it at the wrong time many times and nothing happened. You should not worry. Bhagavan does not care for simple things like this. He will understand. He is not ruthless or anything. :)

Aliens will invade if a rakhi is tied at the wrong time; it's like ... a crime against the universe to tie a rakhi at the wrong time. :p

Thank you :) I certainly didn't want to bring misfortune to me or my brother. I'm glad these things aren't written in stone :)

Such bores, the whole lot of you. :p
I am sorry, but did not have the heart to see the whole video. 'Rakhi' is sacrosanct. It is not for just Hindus but Muslims too. Ramember how Humayun is reputed to have rushed to help when Karnavati of Udaipur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_Karnavati) sent him the 'rakhi'. (BTW, Bundi at the moment is facing a serious flood. Karnavati was a Bundi princess)

Since you guys know a lot about Indian history, could someone inform me if the claim that Rana Sanga was betrayed by one of his generals against his fight against Babur? Is it true?
