The Amish DIR officially exists as an invitation to participate.

How do I know this?
I don't.

If I recall correctly, the ordnung allows use of modern technology, but warns against owning it yourself.
Amish can take taxis, or use computers in non-Amish workplaces, they just shouldn't own a car, or a computer...
And many will own a phone, for emergencies, our already have access to one, I should say.
But whatever, as long as they keep making their awesome chocolate, I couldn't care less!
Strongly recommend it, if you've never been to am Amish town.

Maybe we should make you our ambassador to the Amish.

Lol. I work about 25 min from a fairly large Amish colony, we stop by there maybe a couple times a year for chocolates, or quilts and the like.

Only reason I know anything about them.

..nice people, though.
Though I'll admit, the only reason I knew the word rumspringa was from the movie Sex Drive, and I think an episode of Bones....

What? Me worry?
This would be my first post:

What goes "clippety-clop, clippety-clop, bang-bang, cloppety-clip, cloppety-clip"?

An Amish drive-by shooting.

An Amish drive-by shooting.
Amish pick-up lines:
Thy buggy is bi*ch'n.
So, do thee go to barn raisings often?

....which will not be frequented by Amish people given that they are not allowed to use computers.
at least, not officially
They had a schism not too long ago. Many around here have started using motor vehicles (one business owner has a RV), LED light bulbs, gas to heat and cook with, telephones, power tools and even some electricity which includes computers.

Amish people use technology. It's a misconception that none of them don't use any modern technology at all. Amish people aren't exactly a rarity in my area. I saw a group of them downtown a couple weeks ago. I don't understand how they could wear all those clothes in the brutal heat of that day.
