We thrive on love, we die in a vacuum

Sometimes when I am setting before the Lord, I thank the Lord for his presence, and then I apologize for the fact that I am not always present, and even when I am present, I still wander in and out of awareness. It is the Lord’s love that draws all of us into the deep mystery of His love, and the actual oneness that he has revealed that he has with us.

When I pray, some days are good, others a total mess, yet I pray, or try to, and that is OK. For the trust, the actual knowing that God catches us, always when we feel like we are in free fall, or caught in a maelstrom of inner chaos, is what keeps us rooted.

Faith is a gift offered to all. Trust is a choice that we each have to make at ever deeper levels. Just one small step at a time, and in the process there are many falls, failures, and perhaps at times, we wander off. Yet, in that process, we are also called back into God’s loving embrace.

I do believe that it is possible for me to grow away from God, and to even spend eternity apart from his loving presence. It is a sobering thought but points also to my dignity that I can choose. However, the process of being in a state of non-relational alienation from God is a long process. For while we are free, the Lord wills the salvation of all men.

It is living in the moment, the hour, and the day that we stay on course, for when we get lost in the past, or the future, we are out of touch with the reality of the now. “Now is the time of salvation”.

Prayer, the opening of one’s heart and mind to God is the connection. To pray is not a luxury, but oxygen for the soul. We thrive on love, we die in a vacuum.-Br.MD

I have never been a prayer warrior and I get nervous praying out loud in front of people. I really like the scripted prayers for different occasions in Catholicism. I do pray on my own inside my head, but it alleviates the stress of praying by myself. It's a group thing and I like that.

Coincidental in that I was making a similar statement to our son, namely that we are social creatures who need others.

Agreed, those who pray regularly, soon find silence in how they pray, they just open up their hearts to God's love.
