Wearing Religious Items

I generally wear a pentagram pendant and a pentagram ring as well as a plain silver ring. I wear them for magical reasons rather than religious reasons, people tend not to complain about me wearing them, though if they did, I wouldn't give them the time of day.

I sometimes wear a Christian cross. Not for religious reasons, more for the irony.

I wear a pentagram occassionally, but I also have eclectic religious symbols tattooed on various visible parts of my body.

Do you wear any items that show your religious beliefs? If so, what are they, and why do you present your religious beliefs to the entire public?
Yes, I do. I wear a wrist mala. I do not do this to present my beliefs to the public (few people know what a wrist mala is, and many mistake them for "power beads"). I do it for a reminder to myself to always be mindful regarding the choices I make in my daily life.

BONUS QUESTION: If you belong to a major world religion and you wear items to show your religion, would you wear these items if your religion was not so widely accepted? Why or why not?
See answer above.......again, most people here don't recognize what I am wearing.

No, only because jewelry can mess with Qi flow. If I found some nice wooden jewelry then maybe.

Bonus- My religion isn't mainstream now.

I wear a pent or a chaos star.

The chaos star doesnt attract as much attention as nobody but chaotes know what it is.

Luckily there are other religions out there.

What does a chaos star look like? And what have been your past experiences, encountering chaotes when wearing that star?

There are some variations of it but this seems to be the most common one when dealing with chaos magic and not Games Workshop chaos.

I wear a pentacle outwardly, I don't really wear it to advertise as I see it more as a connection between myself and the natural/spiritual world. I'd wear it under my shirt, but all necklaces annoy me when I wear them like that ;)

I'm looking to get a leaf necklace that I can wear with my pentacle, I think leaves are more closely related by my path than the pentacle by itself :)

I do, and haven't had much of a problem wearing it.

I suppose when a religion is not widely-known, the symbols relating to it are not known either, and can easily be interpreted as mere decorative items, rather than as symbols of religious practices and ideas.

I used to work with someone who had tattoos of pentacles, and pentacle jewelry... she would often say "Oh, I just like stars." Those who didn't know better were none the wiser.

I wear a small silver cross. No one ever seems to mind it. I don't worship it, so I don't think it can be called an idol (or graven image). Are Star of David's considered a graven image, too?
I am not ashamed of my faith, so I would wear it even if it weren't widely accepted.

Interesting - I hadn't really noticed, but all of my malas are either wood or stone; no metal and no plastic (with exception of the elastic).

I am not really sensitive to Qi yet, but almost everything I have read has said that jewelry messes up Qi flow. I have also been told that by a few Tai Chi instructors. Normally it is recommended that you not wear jewelry while practicing any form of energy work, but I'd rather not have my meager amounts of Qi messed with any time...Just in casies.
