Always starts at the pump dosent it?

So is it the usual excuses?

Idaho gas prices now higher than the national average | ktvb.com

Or is it Biden and the Democrats?

Fact check: Expectation of high gas prices with Biden win lack context

So much for fact checks incidentally. Sure enough, once Biden and Democrats take over, prices skyrocket. Starting at the pump and transfers to the store and services.

Of course Trumps prediction seems to have been uncannily accurate..

Trump Was Right: Gas Is at $2.75 a Gallon and Projected to Go Nowhere But Up

Even the polar vortex has joined in.....

Is The Polar Vortex To Blame For Higher Gas Prices?

And lastly, in fairness, a post absolving Biden from any blame....

FACT CHECK: Social media posts wrongly blame Biden for higher gas prices

It's because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trumps buddy...

The last one has got to be it. ;0]

Back to eating Ramin Noodles. It will probably be the only thing I'll be able to afford in the foreseeable future.

Anyways, who or what do you blame?
That is far cheaper than in the UK where it is about £1.28/litre - which in round terms is about £5.00/gallon (about $6)

Depends on the state. That's ok in major cities.

With higher prices, heating costs go higher, truckers make less money, products cost more--it is an economic downturn for most people.
Conservation won't happen without higher prices.
People will cope.

In my environmentally friendly opinion, I'd like a modern, sustainable highway system built with lots of nearby battery charging stations for electric vehicles. This might persuade most drivers of fossil fuel powered vehicles to get rid of their carbon footprints by having their gas powered cars replaced with electric vehicles instead of being dependent on global warming oil consumption. I'd like us American taxpayers to support President Joe Biden's $2 trillion plan to build an environmentally friendly infrastructure. Plan for Climate Change and Environmental Justice | Joe Biden

If it's affordable, practical, efficient, and reliable as fossil systems then I'm all for it.

The effects are generally manageable if there's a bit of certainty around them.

People won't move closer to work for a blip in gas prices that lasts a month or two, but if they know that the increase is permanent, then these sorts of considerations start getting factored into long term plans.

There's been a trend around here for commercial properties to go to these combined heat & power units (that generate power for the building on site from natural gas); these are only cost-effective as long as fossil fuel prices stay low. If companies don't switch to these in the first place, then they're more ready when fuel prices go up.

"A 2018 study from the University of Michigan's Transportation Research Institute found that electric vehicles cost less than half as much to operate as gas-powered cars. The average cost to operate an EV in the United States is $485 per year, while the average for a gasoline-powered vehicle is $1,117"
