Well, dang it, I'm going to have surgery - so you'll be seeing more of me!

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Sigh. How I wish this was the case.

What got me into this was running up and down a very steep set of stairs over and over again (while moving), carrying tons of heavy stuff, on an achilles tendon that was already strained from falling off a ladder and stepping backwards hard several months before.

I'm telling you, this has really been an ordeal - over a year. And now I have 6-8 months at least of rehab. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

I have done this to myself.

LOL, yeah, my husband says I should have named my blog, "Good Tendons Gone Bad!" and had a jailhouse theme!

I wish I'd thought of that.

Hey, check this picture out! My doctor just emailed it to me - he took it right before surgery:

I thought that was pretty funny. Apparently, he did too.

oh dear. i saw the movie "Awake" but i was not sure if it is really possible to have feeling-all-the-pain-but-unable-to-move-or-communicate experience. so, is it for real? could it really happen? one might get lost in madness..

.
yes its true, but its a rarity and the probability is about only one in a million cases :) Keep praying though an don't be scared if that happens.( hope i didnt scare you :))

:D

I'm amazingly ticklish, so I'd have to be anesthetized before anyone could write on the soles of my feet like that.

Thank you so much!

One thing I thought was cool was that every time there was a "change of custody" (of me!) in the hospital, they asked my name, birthdate, and WHICH limb was going to be operated on.

Before surgery, they also marked my ankle, which was comforting even though I had already covered it with graffiti!

Say what you will about the US medical and insurance system (not you personally - the public in general). I am a very average-paid non management employee at a large private company. My insurance company is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. I have been under medical care for this condition for the past year.

I have absolutely ZERO complaints about the system, and the medical care I've received is excellent - once I changed doctors, which was, under my plan, one of my options. I didn't care for my first doctor, and in fact, her diagnosis was wrong and actually caused more damage. But I take responsibility for both my health and my health CARE - and I live in a society where I am allowed to take on that responsibility.

So far, insurance has been EXCELLENT and the whole surgery experience could not have been improved upon as far as I know - my surgeon used the very latest technology, equipment, and treatment options, and so far so good.

I'm very grateful.

Thats great to hear, I'm aware that the health industry at the end of the medi care/doctors and nurses is a very responsible one in your country, and a very facilitated one too. May things be like that or better ( :D) all over the world too, ameen :)

Good to see that U've kept your spirits up! :) See you around.
