I think Adam and Eve are myth but something real prompted the myth.

We are a pattern-matching species enamored with a sense of self. Yi-Fu Tuan once suggested that religion at its core was the impulse for coherence and meaning. What is real that prompts most Myth is real questions.

I believe that Adam and Eve were probably symbolic of early humans, when humankind became "sentient". The "falling" was losing of their innocence: The same loss of innocence a child has at a certain age, when they realize that they are 1. Not the only ones important, 2. That they are not going to live forever, 3. etc.

I believe that they really did exist as well. I am also not sure how it could fit into evolution but I do believe in Theistic Evolution as well as a literal Adam and Eve.
