Western Clothes Need To Be More Versatile

I believe western clothes should become more functional. Take Blue jeans for instance.

Blue jeans haven't changed in 100 years. I don't like them, but they are what I wear. They are heavy, uncomfortable, have tiny pockets and when they get wet they are pure misery. To take them off requires a lot of balance and strain. You either have to stand on one foot or sit down to wiggle them off. They also never fit properly, either being too loose, too tight, or they slide up or down too far. To keep your jeans up you must wear a very tight band about your waist, which I think is unhealthy.

You can buy overalls, but they are not good looking at all and you still have to do the balancing act to change.

The good thing about blue jeans is that they protect your skin, and you don't have to guess what colour to buy.

I find contemporary Western clothes comfortable and sexy. I mostly wear salwar kamizes and 98% of my time is spent fixing my stole when I walk! In addition, I can't walk at all in saris.

This is typically the style I wear. It' comfortable, practical for motorbiking and sexy. Pics not me.

No one ever sees ninjas.....lol....
Occasionally, we see a ninja slip on a banana peel, or trip over a rug.
It's hilarious when they go flying, & land arms akimbo with one of their
pointy star thingies sticking in their butt. Then they wince & howl
with pain just like the rest of us.

You mean like this? This doesn't look to me like it is western. I tend to think of western as boots, jeans, belt, a gun, chaps, and a button-up shirt, and possibly also a horse. :D

And by a 'Stole' you mean like a scarf?

I know what a Saris is. A saris does seem complicated, unless you use a lot of pins to keep it in place. They should make prisoners wear them so they can't run away.

In my OP I referred to designs not the style or cut.

Good one about sari but you can't restrain my mum and a class teacher of mine with them :D.

Yeah of course...a gun....
Western wear is not complete without a gun.

(not sure if it's ninja....)

I consider myself lucky to be born in Bangladesh where traditional clothes are better designed than the Western ones. It is just my personal opinion and I don't mean to offend any people or culture. I do love Western wear because of their cuts and style, but they should be more colourful, intricately detailed, implement more varieties of embellishments like 'kalamkari' (sorry don't have the English translation). Below I provide two pictures of Eastern and Western special occasion dresses, respectively, to show my points. What do you guys think?

I never thought that western attires were lacking in anything, really. Some traditional European designs for upper-class people (from the 1700s to late 1800s) have been the most complex and refined to date, in anywhere, period. I don't know where you are coming from, exactly, given that plenty of them also utilized various colors (such as golden, white, silver and things to that effect), although I have always preferred either dualistic or monodominant color designs in traditional clothing. I suspect that the global reach of the western attires for marriage purposes (the tuxedo/suit for man, the white bride's gown for woman) are a fitting testament to just how brilliant they are. Even if I am not so big fan of western clothing myself, it is not fault of the design itself, just my own problem of having grown fatigued by seeing it so much as I have.

Myself, I prefer the Japanese traditional clothing the most (both male and female kimono, the hakama, haori, etc), and have always preferred, as far as culture-based designs are concerned, but the absolute favorite will always be the East-Asian Buddhist robes lol.

I think Western/European clothes have to be revised. Clothes showing the rear and the underwear, and clothes ripped all over maybe showing "things", look weird to me.

I personally find Western clothes more comfortable than a Sari or a Salwar. Though much more bland to be sure.

It's probably just cultural preference, but I've never been a fan of "flashy" or "embellished"/highly intricate clothing. I find it to be a bit too much and not as attractive as more plain, tighter clothing. My sister, however, is in the fashion industry in NYC, and she would probably agree with you. She always makes fun of me for how boring I dress, and how I like my women dressing boring too. But, it's just my personal preference ... always has been.

Put a girl in a form-fitting dress or yoga pants, and I'm sold. Too much jewelry, embellishments, colors, "stuff" going on ... I've lost interest.
