Yeah, I agree that most people don't really use the term in a supremacist manner, although I have seen some do so inadvertently or unknowingly. I know I personally used to argue for the superiority of "Western culture" when I was vehemently anti-religious and blamed religion for the Middle East's problems.
The world is large, where we can find groups of people with many different modes of living on it, and religion might be only one node in each construct. As to 'superiority,' I would definitively say the american way of life is extremely lacking. I have posted about this in so many ways. The cheapness of our atheistic-materialism; of wanting stuff with no purpose, with developers rooting up untouched forests. The religious right here is also unpalatable in my opinion, with televangelism and beliefs that seem to go against science
Culturally we aren't incredible either, in a lot of ways. Our pop music can be unpalatable, and the subdivision style of building here is so bland, that architectural art is quite rare. As a musician I can hear well, that a lot of our music isn't that interesting, where we often stick to plainest musical scales, and time signatures.
Individualism here makes family a low priority. People in families might not talk to each other at all, or help each other. There is a growing class division. There are drugs and alcohol problems, and job deserts, and general coldness. Growing homelessness. We don't have good town squares - the so-called 'third place.' Money makes everything go smoother, if you have it. If you don't, good luck
