What are some of your pet peeves?

One of mine is the word "agenda" - people often use it to attack their opponents, when in fact, everyone possesses agenda(s), even the person who uses it against another!

Another is "statistic", as in "don't be a statistic", used as a synonym for death. Life is also a statistic.

Or, the #ubiquitous use of #hashtags in the #world now. #Humanity is #catering to the needs of #technology, instead of the other way around, says this @buddhist.

What are some of yours?

People who stand bottles up on conveyor belts at supermarkets and then, when they fall over, stand them back up!

I also hate people who stand bottles up on conveyor belts at airports.

How about people who make a pun, and immediately tack on "no pun intended" ... like an automatic reflex? Please, intend your puns. IMO puns are one of the best parts of language!

I have many but I finally found one that annoys me so much on RF: The "exclusion to the rule."

If a person creates a thread and gives you the "rules" to how he or she wants the question to be answered (say one or the other), don't ask her to do both or either. There are reasons they want to do either or questions. If it doesn't apply to you, give an opinion or interpretation or make something up! that doesn't mean the rules need to be changed because people have multifacted beliefs. We all do. Many threads creators have probably considered that....usually, that's not the point of their thread.

There! Got it out. Stop with the exclusions.

When terms that started off with meaning, lose their meaning because people are over using them ...like the terms 'epic,' and 'diversity.'
