Granted. I was making the point that it may be underlying causes of religion rather than religion itself that has continued its persistence to this day and age.

Absolutely as I'm not implying that it's religion per se but more likely an effect of religion as a by-product. IOW, it's sort of like connecting the dots versus a direct connection.
