Today I met some religious people who kind of reacted to me being a man with black fingernails (yes i painted them again ) and their reaction was very clear by their words "ARE YOU GAY?????"

What the heck :p can't a man have a bit of fun in religious circles without being called gay? By the way to be honest i took it as a compliment to be called gay by them....

It would also be interesting to hear from my fellow Baha'is about this topic, am i stretching any Baha'i rules by being the way i am?

Not at all. Some Baha’is have tattoos so it’s a personal matter.

In many cases I certainly would judge a book by its cover.
If a person CANNOT HELP their appearance then you don't judge - that's biblical.
But if a person makes a statement by how they appear then you judge them by that statement ie having a Nazi swastika tattooed to their forehead. That's biblical too.

You don't really know why the person felt the need to make such a statement and with that attitude you'll probably never find out.

I am an old orthodox person, I do not like any kind of ostentation. No rings, no tattoos, no piercing, no chains around the neck, not even a wrist watch and no belt.

No. the women should be dressed as finely as possible. I like the wife of my nephew, whenever there is a festival get-together, she wears shining clothes and jewelry, and get blessed by me. What my own daugher-in-law wears is drab and uninteresting in comparison.

Interesting how that contrasts 100% with Islamic fundamentalists and women being dressed in bland clothing and their hair and faces covered. I like how Hindus/Indian women celebrate their femininity.

Forget the religious gathering if there is a football game.
I suppose I could make a supreme effort and go to the interfaith thing this Sunday anyway. Good news! I just looked it up and the Ravens are on TV this week and I can record it and watch it later. So there is no conflict! Up to now not very many of their games have been on TV. I've to resort to listening to the game.

So if a person wanted to confront people with his Nazi tattoo then I would feel confronted.
And if that person sat down at an interview with me for a job I would need to take on board the psychology of that person.
Same if that person turned up for an interview late, slovenly, arrogant ---- yes I will judge, particularly when many others turn up for the interview being respectful, cleanly presented etc.. We live in a society where people are afraid to 'judge' another person. This has led to us having the society we actually have today.

I'm talking about pre-judging people. You know prejudice.

So if I see a person drunk then I judge him to be a 'drunk'
If a college beats his wife then he's a 'wife-basher'
If she steals then she's a 'thief'

I don't see a problem.

Again, we are talking about people who dye their hair blue or paint their fingernails black.

Depends - is this person doing this to attract attention? Make an aggressive statement? A fashion victim?
What if that person is going for a job interview? Going on a first date?
Remember, the real judging is often the same people who have purple hair, mohawks, facial tattoos etc. - and it's often moral contempt.

I'll just say I've been surprised by people's motivations if I've been open to learning them.

Strange. My assumption would be that you are Goth, not gay.

Every group has its unwritten rules about what is acceptable. It's not just Christians. It's not even just religious people. You could be describing the high school football team.
